"Oh for pity's sake! I worry about you because you're my brother. I worry about Mac too. I know you can take care of yourself, you've proven that." Mostly.

"Then y'can't keep expectin' me to report my every move back to you. I have to tell you every night I might be considerin' goin' out for a bit?" Tugger's tail lashed behind him, though more in frustration now than anger, "That would be like me askin' where you were three nights ago. Like I keep tellin' the both of you, I ain't five years old anymore."

Munkus frowned at that. "If you had I likely would have told you." He retorted. "I know you're not five, but some days you damn well act like it."

"Didn't need to ask. Trusted you could take care of yourself without needin' to pry." Tugger's reply was sulky. He sighed, "So if it wasn't t'keep tabs or about me missin' that meetin', just why did you want to talk so bad?"

"Because occasionally I like to know what's going on in your life." Came the calm reply.

Tugger felt his fur bristle slightly at that, still not entirely comfortable with the concept that Munkustrap didn't have an ulterior motive. "This ain't about me gettin' arrested then?" he hazarded, he'd not discussed that night with his brother since it happened, a big part of him had assumed the silver tabby would still be furious.

"I don't know. Were you an accidental witness to another of our brother's crimes?" His tone was dry and he shook his head. "No, not really."

Tugger shook his head, "I don't get it." he said, genuinely confused, "You seemed angry fit to burst before?"

"Well excuse me if I wasn't expecting a call in the middle of the night telling me my younger brother had gotten himself arrested by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm not saying I'm not still irritated about it, I'm saying that tonight didn't have to do with it."

"Then what is it about?" Tugger ran a paw through his headfur, making it stand up in a halo of fuzz and untidying his curl, "Please Munk, I'm too tired and I've had one too many drinks t'play guessin' games. Either lay it out straight or let me go to bed."

"Alright, I was worried about you when you didn't show this evening. I admit I've been wary since you got yourself picked up. I expected you there at the meeting and you weren't. That's really what it is. I'm also sick of you avoiding me like the plague."

Tugger leant heavily on the bannister, though he looked wary when it wobbled, "An' I was sick of you and Mac' havin' a go at me. It seemed a whole lot easier to not be around f'that. Me gettin' picked up by the police wasn't my idea. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, no thanks to Mac. It ain't gonna happen again if I can help it. The commissioner won't be needin' to ask me anymore questions either."

Munkus's brows rose at the last comment. "He won't?"

Tugger shook his head, "You ain't spoken with Mac then. Luckily my boss where I've bin' workin' is an absoloute lady, she vouched f'me and confirmed my alibi."

"No, if we can avoid it Mac and I don't talk, you know that." He glanced around. "Well, as long as you've got somecat vouching for you that'll do. Good job."
