He managed to roll one shoulder in a shrug without stretching the wound. He had been practicing. "I'm fine," he said. "It's not much, besides, I'm not plannin' on doin' more today than sittin' at a desk."

"True. Pity we didn't meet under better circumstances." She remarked.

She laughed lightly. "I suppose that's true, but still. To actually have some idea of who you are...I wish it had been a better time."

"Hm. A handsome tom who's a hell of a lot mor than a hotel owner, heavily involved in the darker side of this town. Otherwise? I'm still trying to figure you out." She replied calmly as she took a seat in one of the chairs near the desk.

He laughed and regretted it when it hurt. He tried not to let it show though, smoothing his face out. "The dark side of Felidae? Me? You must be mistaken," he said, smirking again. "And how much do you care to figure me out?"

"Well, that depends. How much do you want me to care?" She answered a smirk tugging at her lips as she arched one eyebrow very slightly.

"Don't know, it could be very dangerous to 'et involved with handsome hotel owners. You sure you wouldn't regret it?"

"Regret's part of life. I'll never know unless I try, now will I?"

Mac arched an eyebrow of his own and inclined his chin toward her. "How very true. How much do you think you could handle then?"

"I never know. I tend to surprise myself." Her contralto voice almost purred.

His smirk only grew wider. He leaned forward, his elbows crossed over the desk, completely ignoring the twinge in his side. "I do so love surprises," he rumbled back.

"Well, then. I think I will look forward to finding out more about you." Her green gaze swept over him.
