If Not for Friends, Who?

Misto blinked and held out a paw. "Pleased to meet you as well. Mistoffelees Quaxo. Uh, sorry for disturbing you." His ear flickered back. He felt like an idiot being there, and it did not help that he was still dripping all over the entrance.

Teazer came the rest of the way down the stairs and shook the offered paw, her toes curling at the dampness of the other cat's fur. "Jer'" she called out down the hall, "there's clean towells on the top shelf." She offered the bedraggled tom a brief smile. "Teazer, I'm Jerrie's sister. An' that's okay, though you'll have t'forgive me if we've met before, I don't recall you, but I ain't properly awake jus' yet."

"Yeah, yeah--'ey!" Jerrie could be heard muttering at the linen closet as more than one towel came down on top of him. He finally got that sorted out, seeing to it that all but the one stayed on the top shelf. He picked up the blankets and pillow he'd already grabbed and kicked the door shut, coming back down the hall and tossing the towel to Misto. "Dry off a bit, M, b'fore you catch your death."

Misto took the towel, and started working on drying his fur as he turned back to Teazer. "No, I don't think we've met before, though I've certainly heard about you enough to make that feel a bit strange."

Teazer laughed slightly, "Jer, what you bin sayin' about me?" she looked Misto over again, "I think we should get the kettle on the stove." she added as an afterthought.

"Nothin' bad...I don' think." He grinned at her, "Then again it depends on when we're talkin' about." His hazel gaze went to his friend. "Yeah, that's probably a good idea."

Misto nodded. "Please," he said in reference to the kettle. "And no, nothing bad. Really."

Teazer nodded, padding across the hall to the kitchen "I'll get some coffee on, or somethin', shout if y'want me."

((exit Teazer to kitchen, she's not exactly out of the thread, but I need to sleep, so figured this way you two could carry on until she's done in the kitchen without waiting for me. ))

"Tea would be great, if you have any, if not coffee," Misto told her and turned to lay the towel down on the couch before sinking down on top of it.

"Sounds good, Teaze." Jerrie set the pillow and blankets down on the coffee table before settling into a chair and watching his friend for a moment. "What happened?"

Misto tried not to bury his face in his paws, though he was tempted to. Instead, he shrugged a still somewhat damp shoulder. "We got into a fight. I... we both got really angry, and I yelled at him, and he threw a paperweight at my head and kicked me out."

Jerrie's brows rose and he let out a low whistle at that. "Not fixable then?"

Misto considered for a moment. "No. Maybe. Probably not." He did not really want to fix things at that point... but if he did not, what was he going to do? Where was he going to go?

"Well, y' welcome here as long as you need it." He hoped that offer sounded more genuine than it was in fact. A night or two was one thing, but he couldn't very well have his friend staying on the couch for too long...not with a stillery in the basement.

"Thanks," Misto murmured. "But... I should have figured out a way to get out of there ages ago. I'll... try to only stay a couple days."
