Deme had this feeling that Griddlebone was hiding something, but she didn't know what. So she just said, "Oh." And gave up. "What can you tell me about Mr. Wheeler?"

Milady offered the other queen a grateful smile. "He's a nice tom, even-tempered most of the time, but he's got a defensively protective streak about his sister. He's pretty quiet about where he came from, but it's not hard to pick up he's from the deep south somewhere--Georgia I think he said at one point. He's a good worker. If he says he'll be someplace or do something you can be damn sure he will."
