Deme had this feeling that Griddlebone was hiding something, but she didn't know what. So she just said, "Oh." And gave up. "What can you tell me about Mr. Wheeler?"

[Meadowlark]

Milady offered the other queen a grateful smile. "He's a nice tom, even-tempered most of the time, but he's got a defensively protective streak about his sister. He's pretty quiet about where he came from, but it's not hard to pick up he's from the deep south somewhere--Georgia I think he said at one point. He's a good worker. If he says he'll be someplace or do something you can be damn sure he will."

She smiled. "He seemed nice when he came in."

[Meadowlark]

THe white queen nodded. "He's a good fella. Loyal to those he cares about and true to his word."

[becca]

"Do you need a refill on your coffee or some dessert?"

[Meadowlark]

"No, but thanks. I should probably be getting my errands done."

[becca]

She gave the queen a warm smile. "If you're sure."

[Meadowlark]

"I am, but thank you again." She rose, setting the money for the meal, along with the tip, down. "Take care, Demeter."
