Deme had just started her shift. It was about lunch time. She was working alone today, oddly enough. Though today looked like it would be a slow day. As much as she liked tips and wages that came from customers, she liked the quietness of the diner. Though she couldn't help but think about Teazer's older brother, Jerrie. He seemed decent enough and she liked Teazer.

Griddlebone entered the cafe. It wasn't often she came uptown, but she had a few errands to run around here and while she was here she figured she might as well get a bite to eat. Her heels clicked on the tiles of the floor as she made her way over to a table, sitting down, spreading the skirt of her red dress out in such a way as to avoid most wrinkles.

Deme looked up as a cat came into the diner. She made her way over. "What can I get you for lunch?"

Griddlebone looked at the other queen for a moment, considering for a moment. "What do you reccomend?"

At what she would recommend, she smiled, "We have good coffee and our sandwiches are also good." She paused. "But really anything you order is good."

The white queen offered a smile at that. "Then coffee and a sandwich it is."

She smiled. This reminded her of her conversation with Jerrie. "What kind of sandwich would you like?"

"Let's do a ham and cheese?" Griddlebone queried, her gaze taking in the smile. Hm.

"Sure." She went and got her sandwich and coffee. "If you need anything else, my name's Demeter."

"Thank you, Demeter. I'm Griddlebone." She looked the other queen over and then around at the cafe. "Seems like a slow day, yes?"

She gave the queen a friendly, but shy, smile. "It's my pleasure, Griddlebone." About it being a slow day, she replied, "Surprisingly, yes. Usually at this time we have more customers. Breakfast and Lunch tend to be our busiest times of day."

"Hm, interesting. Well, I'm sure it's neither the food nor the staff. You seem very capable."

At the compliment of her being capable, she blushed but said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome." The customer ran her claws through her hair for a moment before speaking again. "You been in town long?"

That question caught her off-guard and brought up unpleasant memories, one's she had tried to bury. She grimaced with out realizing it then tried to smile. "I've been here about four years. How about you?"
