Name: Genghis Selkirk
Aliases: The Siamese
Age: 40
Build: Genghis is not a large cat, coming in at a very slender 5’7”. His build is almost entirely lean muscle, but even with that his size is small enough he relies on his wits and his agility to get out of many situations.
Origin: Born in Siam, raised in Britain and came to the States 15 years ago
Occupation: International businessman by day, the cat in charge of the behind the scenes working of several smaller gangs in the docks area by night. He has direct control of one gang, but even then the members know him by the name “The Siamese” and nothing further. He has a couple of pawn shops he also runs and one drug parlor he owns, though he refuses to set paw in it. The shops for fencing, the parlor for a tertiary source of income.
Eyes: Bright blue
Hair: Dark brown, slicked back from his face and combed to precision.
Scars: One running from shoulder to past his elbow on his left arm. It still causes him pain from time to time and he has difficulty with the elbow joint—especially in cold weather.
Fur/Markings: Genghis possesses typical seal-point Siamese markings. ((Here)) He has dark brown legs, paws, tail and face which fade to a light tan over the rest of his body.
Attire: While dealing with his legitimate businesses, Genghis wears full suits in an assortment of shades of black and brown, predominantly black or dark grey though. He accents them with blue or green ties to supplement the color of his eyes. When working with the underworld he tends to shed the suitcoat and pick up a looser overcoat as his primary piece of outerwear—he’ll wear the suitcoat for meets, but finds it just gets in the way when he’s actually working on something due to the narrow cut.
Accessories: A pocket watch inscribed with his father’s family motto: Jamais Arriere (Never Behind). He also has a tie tack and cufflinks of his father’s family crest as well, though he wears those only rarely.
WOC: He carries a couple, he has a curved knife with a jeweled hilt that he keeps in his office. On his person he carries two easily-concealed revolvers—one under his arm and the other holstered on the instep side of his right ankle.
Appearance: Genghis is a relatively small cat, but he is lithe and agile. He’s done everything he can to keep himself in a condition to be able to get out of most situations and it shows in his build. Even with his slight stature there’s an air of danger about him in the way he carries himself when he does business. His blue eyes are cold and calculating and his claws are ever at the ready—though he finds the use of them as an offensive weapon distasteful and inelegant.
Personality: Genghis is a cat of two sides—there is the side that owns drug parlors, runs gangs and deals in black market good and there is the legitimate businessman. He moves smoothly between these two aspects, but the one is colder than the other and sometimes overlaps into his day to day interactions. His accent (appearing rarely, but still showing on certain syllables) and appearance mark him as non-native, but he speaks the language fluently and communicates what he needs to smoothly and clearly.
He has a dangerous, but cold temper. He rarely raises his voice, his tone turning cold and dropping in volume when his temper arises. He’s a dangerous cat to cross, but he keeps the lines in the sand pretty clear—threats to his position in both the underworld and the legitimate business scene are dealt with with rapid and cutthroat efficiency.
He keeps himself to himself, predominantly out of self-preservation. It is an action learned at a young age and he has cultivated it to serve him well in his illegal dealings as well. This is not a cat you want to betray. Cross him once, shame on him. Cross him twice, well…he has a flair for the theatrical and has no qualms about tying you to an anchor and dropping you in the harbor off of a hired fishing trawler.
Special skills: Tri-lingual in French, English and Thai (though he uses the third rarely) and is learning Spanish. Chess strategy
Weaknesses: Physically he has difficulty with his left elbow joint. His entire left arm is a bit weak, but he can’t sustain a direct hit to that elbow without risking loss of it. Professionally he’s balancing so many businesses and gangs that if anyone was to get in and infiltrate to the top there’s a very strong risk that he’d find himself in an extremely dangerous position, not only due to the infiltration but also due to the sheer risk of his men turning on him.
Fears: Loss of control, being buried alive
Likes: Coffee, power, chocolate, chess, and the occasional card game
Dislikes: Tea, insolence, elitism, threats to his position, and busybodies.
History: He was born in Bangkok in the mid-1880s to a British tom and a Siamese queen. He lived there until his mother passed from fever when he was ten. His father returned to England, taking his young son with him. The boy was schooled in boarding schools and underwent persecution from his classmates (and occasionally his teachers) for his mixed blood, learning quickly how best to disguise it—never use his mother’s tongue, banish his accent to certain words only, dress as a son of England should, and above all never speak against the expansion of the Empire.
His father called him back to London to finish his schooling nearer to “home.” Genghis devoted only about half of his energy to his schoolwork, as he fell in with a decidedly unsavory crowd. He fell out of favor and angered some rather important cats in the London underworld by the time he was 25. He fled to America, knowing that their contacts there were fewer. He settled in Felidae and began quietly consolidating power while establishing himself as an up and coming businessman around town.
For the last several years he has been quietly tying up the knots in the web of his system that is behind the scenes of even the underworld. He’s kept himself as many steps away from actual crimes as possible while still having a paw in them. He has occasional problems with cats in the docks area but for the most part he leaves them alone. Though if the gangs he pulls the strings for happen to collect protection money once in a while, who is he to say nay?
Love Interest: None at the moment, though he’s had his share of lovers in the past.
Quotes: None at the moment, though knowing this muse he’ll likely find something.
Theme Song: Midnight Well—Celtic Thunder
