Name: Louis Edmond Page
Aliases: Lou
Age: 34
Build: At 5’6”, 120 pounds, Lou is very thin. He’s a little under average height, and very wiry. He’s a bit angular, but not too much and the way in which he carries himself lends authority that this build might usually deny him.
Origin: Born and raised in Felidae. Left for the War, but came back a bit earlier than he intended.
Occupation: Lou’s a Jazz trumpet player and the leader of one of two bands which play at The Chrysalis. He’s also the manager of the speak and the only cat (apart from the owner him or herself) who knows who the owner is.
Eyes: Bright green
Hair: Lou’s hair is dark brown and worn slicked back.
Scars: None that are visible and he never mentions any others.
Fur/Markings: Lou is a brown and tan tabby with creamy fur on his stomach and face. His paws are white and the stripes on his tail are dark enough to almost be called black.
Attire: He tends to wear muted colors of suits—grey or dark blue—occasionally sans jacket and with a blue-grey fedora, though he does have one suit in a medium green that he hasn’t worn for a long time. If he needs to get dressed up for some reason (he rarely sees a reason to do so) he can be found in an nice black or just off-black suit
Accessories: He carries a pocket watch and a cigarette case that was his father’s.
WOC: Even though it puts him at a decided disadvantage, Lou doesn’t carry a weapon. He has his claws if needed, but he usually just tries to avoid those situations.
Appearance: Lou is, as was said above, slender and wiry. His clothes are usually well taken care of, but he doesn’t put too much time into his appearance. He has a primarily gentle nature that can often be seen in his eyes, but there’s a hardened authority that comes through that enough to get the job done.
Personality: Lou is the sort of guy who is very loyal to friends and does his best to pull them out of scrapes. He'd rather not get involved, but if it's a friend or someone he's taken under his wing then, and only then, he'll step in. He tends to take on the older brother role to those around him, not always, but usually.
He is pretty laid-back and it takes quite a bit to get his temper up, but when it does show itself his temper is a cold sort. He does his best to be the voice of reason in counterpoint to his friends' recklessness. He's also a bit shy when it comes to the ladies.
Lou’s a gentle cat by nature so how he came to be working in the underworld of Felidae is something that he could probably explain, but he won’t due to the memories it tends to bring back. He is in a position of authority but doesn’t usually remind cats of that—he’s much more content to be in the background and let others work it out. If a helping paw is needed they’re welcome to come to Lou but given his druthers he’d prefer to spend his time on his music, not on the business aspect (that’s not to say he neglects that aspect of his job he just would prefer to keep the band running smoothly instead).
Special skills: He’s an expert trumpet player and has an ability to be the voice of reason even when reason doesn’t make much sense.
Weaknesses: Lou has a nearly debilitating fear of blood. He’s far better about it than he used to be, but still reacts poorly to it. He also has weak eyes (he owns glasses but chooses not to wear them—the only time you’ll see glasses on him is when he’s doing close work (such as the paperwork for the Chrysalis) at which time they’re half-moon reading glasses)
Fears: Gunfire makes him jump and brings back memories he would rather not relive so one could call this a fear, he also fears the loss of close friends and others dear to him.
Likes: Music, a good book (he prefers not to read the contemporary authors, tending to pick up 19th century writers instead), and an occasional bourbon (in lieu of that? Whiskey)
Dislikes: Gunfire, blood, people who claim they can play music and can’t.
History: Lou was raised in a middle-class family in a Felidae suburb and had a good family life. Lou played the trumpet in his High School band, but tended to devote a bit more time to that than to other things. He passed he classes with decent grades but if given his druthers would have paid more attention to the arts. He graduated High School with good grades and started attending college to become a doctor.
He was 26 when the U.S. entered WW1 and he entered as a medic. He worked as an orderly in the field hospitals and was exposed to all manner of wounds while working there. Once Armistice was declared he returned home, but it took nearly a year and a half of treatment with a psychiatrist before he could tolerate any sight of blood. He moved into the city shortly after completing his treatments. The medical field was no longer an option due to the fact that though he could handle some blood his chances of dealing with more than a minor wound were not high.
Lou turned to something he loved during his teen years: music. He re-learned how to play the trumpet and became proficient at it. He worked his way up to leading a band and when the Chrysalis changed owners a couple years ago (why is a secret kept between Lou and the owner, but it may have something to do with the arrival of a young queen to Felidae at about the same time) he was given the position of manager. Lou still suffers from nightmares of the War, but he does what he can to avoid situations that will bring those memories on during the day and lives his life as he pleases.
Love Interest: None at the moment, he tends to get a little bit tongue-tied around women and doesn’t feel as though he has much to offer them—especially considering the fact that all of his jobs are somehow tied to the wrong side of the law.
