Ricky Logan sat in the waiting room of the police station, his legs drawn up to his chest and his arms and tail curled around them. His ears were flat against his skull and his gaze was constantly darting around. Even if he'd wanted to, he couldn't possibly have made himself look much smaller than he did at that moment. Habit, and his current fears were doing a good enough job of that. He glanced toward the officer who was watching him, only to look away again when he realized the cat was in fact still keeping an eye focused on him. His tailtip twitched.

Sonya strode into the station, purpose giving his steps more confidence than he really thought he could have mustered that day. He stopped when he spotted Ricky, recognizing the kit. "This is the witness?" he asked the officer on duty, who nodded.

The teen looked up, curling further in on himself when he spotted Sonya. He'd keep his mouth shut as long as he could. The hope was that he could plead shock or something. He'd give it his damndest anyhow.

Considering his posture, Sonya sighed and motioned him to stand. "Come on," he said, voice soft. "Let us go into my office."

Ricky hesitated for a long moment before rising to his feet and following Sonya through the precinct.

Opening the door to his office, Sonya motioned him inside, glancing around to make sure the papers were in place where they should be. "Please, take a seat."

Ricky settled quickly in one of the chairs, almost immediately returning to his previous stance, curled up on the chair, "Why'm I here?"

Sonya scanned the file he had been handed quickly. "There was a couple of bodies found at the dockts," he said. "Some witnesses implied you might have been there, or another kit of your basic description." He gave the kit a long look and sighed. "So, did you see anything?"

"I don't go down to the docks much," he murmured, ears flattening further.

Sonya considered him a long moment. "Are you sure about that?" he asked slowly, implying clearly he believed otherwise and giving the smaller kit the space to change his answer.

Ricky managed to curl even further in on himself, "Jus' cause I ain't down there much don't mean I wasn't then. I...mighta seen somethin', but I dunno really."

"And what did you see then?" Sonya asked, voice level and he hoped at least somewhat soothing. He was trying so hard to focus only on this moment, and not think about what had been happening barely an hour before. Tail swishing on the chair at the thought, he focused his gaze entirely on the kit in front of him.

"I..." Ricky's mind flickered back to the flash of a knife blade and the feel of a gun barrel pressed against his ribs, "N-nothin'. I didn' see nothin'." The words chased one another out, tumbling over each other in a rush.

Sonya blinked, leaning forward. "Ricky, I want to help you," he said softly and paused. "Are you still living with your older brother?"

The kit looked up finally, "Brothers. And mother. And father. Though he ain't around much. And she works too. Hell, they all do." He answered, quietly.
