Russell gave a shrug of his shoulders as he lead the needle though the holes of the button. "You will no doubt find somesing to stop this bloodbath," The tortie flicked an ear, but his gaze remained on his work. Leading the needle through the button again, he continued. "Crime will never stop but at least et can settle and simmer down."

"You mean like repealing those damned stupid prohibition laws?" Sonya muttered, the sound distinctly unhappy.

Russell snapped the thread with his teeth before he replied. "That es one way," He replied. "No doubt something will come up after that problem fades. The world 'as a way of doing that, oui?"

"Something, certainly," he sighed. "But it used to not be this bad. Not like this. I have been a cop a long time and it was not like this."

Russell held up the suit jacket for the other to see, and gave another one of his sly, playful grins. "You've been playing thes game longer than I have," Russell mused. "I 'ave not been en the city long. Et's only been a few years since I 'ave arrived." It was actually more like eleven years, but who was counting?

Sonya gave him a long look. "I would hope you are not playing the game at all," he replied.

Russell gave a small chuckle and set the jacket aside to begin working on the pants to match. "I live 'ere. Et es enough for me to know about the game, and knowing es playing en this world. With a business, I 'ave 'ad to deal with the scum of the streets more so." His easy manner never dropped for a second, even his tail was still calmly curling behind him. Taking up the charcoal again, he made a few marks in the sheet of fabric before cutting into it once more. "Et es not as much as your experience, no. I do say that I 'ave enough knowledge to get out of a scrape, though."
((Nice recovery, Russ xD))

Considering him a moment, Sonya shrugged. "Perhaps most cats in this town know how to get out of a scrape," he replied softly, not sure whether to push the point at all or not.

Russell gave a small hand gesture and a nod. "Exactaly," He purred in his heavy french accent. "Not a whole lot of cat would admit to et, but we 'ave all been brushed with the dangers of crime before." The tortie's tail flickered as though remembering something annoying. "One time I came en to my shop to find et broken into. Not much sense for breaking into a Tayloring shop... Took some money and most of my silks then left. Sons d'un bâtard."

"Did you report it?" Sonya asked with an arched brow. "They seemed to find something worth taking at any rate."

"I did," At this Russell gave a sigh and a shake of his head as he finished up cutting the fabric. "By your reaction, I can see that et did not get properly adressed. Pity..." He scooped up the pants-in-progress into his arms and moved back over to his sewing machine.

Sonya shrugged. "I hardly see every case that crosses the department. For a petty theft, I probably would not hear of it at all."

Russell shrugged his shoulders a little. "I suppose you are correct, yes," He mused aloud as he stitched up the seam of the pants. "So what things do you hear about?"

"Big cases," he replied with a small shrug. "Often the murders, the deaths, the things that catch the news."

Russell stopped the machine to flip the pants around to sew the other side. "The things people really want to hear about, no?" He commented and his tail curled around his waist, just the tip of it flicking.
