Clara glanced at the package in her paws and back to the door. A lot of effort had gone into this moment, first figuring out where one Jerrie Wheeler lived, followed by tearing through just about every store in town before finding something she deemed suitable. She had even had the store gal wrap it for her so it didn't look quite like the mess it would have otherwise.
But now that she was actually standing on the doorstep, she just wanted to run. Possibly drop the gift before run, or maybe she would take it with her on the way away.

Jerrie slammed the hood of his truck back down, blowing on his paws to warm them slightly before circling the house and approaching the front door. He paused when he saw the queen standing on his porch and blinked for a long moment, "Clara?"

She nearly jumped out of her fur, turning slowly to face him. "Hello, Jerrie," she murmured.

He offered her a bit of a smile, "It's good to see you. Y' wanna come in an' warm up a bit?"

"I," she wavered a moment and nodded finally. "I could perhaps."

Jerrie stepped past her to open the door, motioning her ahead of him, "C'n I get y' anythin'?"

She shook her head, opting not to say anything like new memories or a different heart. "No, but thank you," she said, stepping inside and unable to help herself from glancing around.

He nodded slightly, waving a hand toward the living room, "Main room's over there if y'd like t' sit down?"

She nodded, swaying daintily into the room, and sitting down on the coach. Awkwardly, she shifted the package she was holding around in her lap.

Jerrie settled in one of the chairs, after first adding a log to the fire, "How've y' been?"

"Alright," she replied, voice a bit prim and spine tense. "Busy. You?" Her eyes stayed to the fire, considering it's cheeriness a moment.

Jerrie shrugged, "This time a year's kinda slow for me, honestly. Best time for work's late spring t' early fall. So I've been gettin' a lot done around th' house, but not too bad really."

"I'm sure the house always appreciates the work," she murmured, shifting again.

Jerrie offered her a bit of a smile, "I suppose so." He paused for a moment, "What brings y' by?"

That was actually the question she really hadn't wanted to answer. "Well," she started, paused, and tried again. "You gave me such a lovely gift, I thought perhaps Christmas would be a good time to return the favor," and tentatively held out the package she'd been fiddling with.
