Only a few hours after she left found Clara knocking on the door in the warehouse before pushing it up.

Genghis' brow arched as she entered, "Not that I mind seeing you again, but did you not just leave?"

"Yes," she replied, feeling jittery. "I've yet to have luck finding a dress, but I did find information on Quaxo."

That earned a blink from the Siamese, "That was quick. What did you learn and where did you learn it?"

She sat down on the edge of the table again, smoothing her skirt out before replying. "I ran into a cat I knew, who when I asked him how he was doing, said he was working for "Misto" at renovating the Palace. They've been friends, well, since the Spanish Flu came through so, about eight years."

That gained Genghis' full attention, "What did he tell you about Mr. Quaxo?"

"Apparently that he's a very good cat," she started, holding out the fingers of her paw as she listed them off. "The one I was talking too is still trying to get used to him owning the Palace which implies he was doing something very different beforehand, the two of them met during the Spanish Flu because Quaxo was volunteering at the clinic, and had apparently been locked out by his uncle for doing so."
She paused, mentally replaying the conversation. "He called Jones not the most relationship capable cat, and mentioned that Jones felt like he was going to live forever."

"Well, that is quite the combination of facts. You say this cat knows him well....what are the chances of learning more about him through that channel?"

"I'm not sure," she shrugged. "He's rather the stupidly loyal type, and he mentioned Quaxo plays his cards close to his chest, and when I asked too many questions he shut me down."

Genghis considered her for a long moment, "How did you say you know this cat you heard all of this from?"

She pursed her lips for a moment. "I hadn't. He's just a cat I've run into a few different times around town. We've become acquaintances and will talk when we see each other. I was suitably surprised to hear who he was working for."

His blue gaze swept over her, but he nodded and accepted the answer, "Well, it certainly is good to know that Quaxo hasn't always held such a position as he does now. Though it is interesting that it's still taking adjustment to the realization that he owns the Palace. He was Jones' heir after all." He mused, "Well, we'll have to see if there's anything to this story that will be of further use."

"I wonder," she started. "If he was Jones' heir? They have different names, first of all, he's un-used to the role as are his friends, and the comment that Jones felt like he was going to live forever? Perhaps he simply inherited the wealth and was not handed it but any plan of Jones."

A slow smile spread across her boss' features, "As a nearest living relative sort of thing? That's quite possible, something to start looking into. And something that might well work to see about taking control of that portion of this city out of his paws."

"It would explain why he and those close to him are so surprised. He probably has no idea what he's doing even..." she shook her head. "Oh, this could be fascinating."
