The tabby's brow arched as he finished packing the rest of his clothes and set to work finishing with the few keepsakes, "Not to belittle your choice of work, but keep in mind what I do on a daily basis and how much time I spend with a good number of those 'finest'. But yes, that would be rather awkward."

Tugger nodded. He was very aware of what could happen to him. He tried not to think about it, tried to go on with brash confidence...but he was constantly aware. "These are crazy times and this is what I'm wearing to the party. I'll be careful. But you've gotta be careful, too. Don't take any wooden nickels or anything."

"See you." Munkus nodded to his brother and made his way down the stairs and out the front door to catch the bus. It was almost as though a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. One last trip to get that box and he would be out of that place for good.

Tugger listened to his brother leave, basking in the silence, the old creaks and aches of a lifetime. It was his now, and the silence was terrible and liberating all at once.
