Coricopat's ears laced and he looked up at the smaller tom, pain briefly evident in his gaze at that, "I would never do that to you again."

For a long moment Mistoffelees looked shocked and horrified at himself. "I, I'm sorry. I know that. I do. It just, it's late, I'm not thinking straight. I'm sorry."

After a long hesitation which included a glance toward the bookshelf, where his collection of Hawthorne short stories was, Cori finally nodded, "I'll be along in a couple of minutes."

He swallowed hard, running a paw through his headfur, but nodded, "I will be."

Pausing, Mistoffelees nodded before padding back down the hallway and curling back up in Coricopat's bed, hugging the pillow under his head and his ears straining for sounds of the other.

It took Coricopat almost a quarter of an hour before he finally rose, shut off the lights around the living room and entered the bedroom. He quickly changed and then slipped into bed beside Mistoffelees. He spared only a brief glance for the younger cat, settling in to attempt to sleep.

The smaller cat tried to finally go to sleep as well. Only it wasn't working. Finally, he turned over, hesitated, and scooted a little closer, one paw reaching out to rest against Coricopat's side.
