"Smalltime I hope?" Genghis asked, "If not we might just as well be looking at competition as a business opportunity.

She nodded. "Seems to be. He seemed eager for a business partnership--especially one that was mutually profitable. He seemed to insist on that point especially."

"Well he can see you're not about to take a deal if it doesn't appear beneficial to you." Genghis replied, "That's just plain common sense, and of course it's got to be beneficial to him as well." The chocolate point's mind slipped back to his own conversation on the quayside with the tom, recalling what he had said about money.
"Did you tell him who you represent?"

She blinked, one ear twitching but not flickering, refraining from pointing out he'd seem more terrified of being taken advantage of than likely to take advantage of them.
She shook her head. "I did not."

Genghis nodded, "It might be better to remain that way for the time being. Now, what precisely was the deal you had in mind that we might consider cutting with him?"

She named off the potential deal, concerning the ammunition and alcohol to start with, before looking at getting guns from him as well. "He claims to be able to reach areas not much tapped since the Great War." One ear flickered back ever so slightly at the mention of the war but she stilled it quickly enough.

His eyes caught the movement but he said nothing. "Has he any proof of this? I'd like to see some evidence before I enter into anything."
tThe alcohol was of little interest to Genghis until he got a price, since most of it he already had supplied from other sources, though if Lambrick could offer him a better deal, then he might consider it. The guns and ammunition interested him far more for the time being though. His cats had been equipped with the same weapons for too long, some now rather outdated. With new competition in town, he knew a better quality of weapon wouldn't go amiss.

She suppressed a sigh. "Yes, sir, he showed me different samples. He must know as well as we do that any payment would have to wait until after the majority of the goods are delivered anyway."

"Very well, as far as the alcohol goes, I want you to get me a price list from our current supplier, hint that we might be finding a new one just to see if that alters it, and one from Lambrick. The amunition is fine, you can tell him if we cut a deal on guns then we'll be needing to load them with something, so the same supplier is helpful. As for the actual hardware, I'd like to take a look for myself.

"I'll see what I can do about getting you a sample of the gun then," she replied.

The Siamese gave a curt nod, "Thank you." he was silent for a moment, considering, "I only made his aquaintance briefly, but Lambrick seems like an interesting cat, what was your assessment?"

She rolled one shoulder. "He seems the solid time... no fuss, not a fan of frills, but the type to buckle down and get things done. He is wary of those more intelligent of him, and afraid to be taken advantage of. Once he's in the for the long haul, he seems the type to stay there."

Another nod, "Sounds like a decent cat to do business with if your assessment is correct." Genghis remarked, "Almost too good to be true, things are seldom this simple, yet my own judgement was much the same. Mind you, he's dabbling quite deep with munitions and alcohol, so perhaps is brighter than we give him credit for. I would not exercise undue caution, but it always pays to be vigilant."

Clara didn't remark that being bright and being intelligent were often different things depending on how one split the two. The fisherman was bright alright, and that would probably be a good quality in a partner. Instead of saying anything, she nodded and rose. "If that is all, sir?"

"You came to see me." Genghis responded, "Were there any other matters you wished to discuss?"
