Clara had woken up far earlier than she usually did, let alone after she had been out the night before. She woke up with a headache, though she knew that she hadn't touched nearly enough drink to make it the cause.
Sighing, she got up and dressed slowly, before heading down to the docks and toward the boat that served as her bosses headquarters.

Genghis was on the deck of the Rose, staring out to sea and finishing a cigarette before he started work for the day. He wasn't expecting any deliveries that morning, one of his ships out on a long run that would take more days to complete and the other in for repairs, so all he had awaiting him was meetings and paperwork. He had to go uptown later, and was trying to ignore how out of sorts his coffee brown suit felt in the docks.
However, he wasn't so occupied with his thoughts as not to hear someone coming up the gangplank, and shortly, was crossing the deck to meet Clara.

Clara noticed him, and inclined her head. "Genghis. Good morning."

"Good morning indeed," he finished with the cigarette and pitched the butt into the water with a flick of his wrist. "to what do I owe the pleasure of your company?"

She arched a brow slightly at that greeting and shrugged. "I was up early and wanted to know if there was anything you needed of me in the next couple days," she replied. "Also, I wanted to double check a potential deal with you before it goes too far."

Genghis motioned towards his office, "You'd better fill me in."

Nodding, she followed him. "A fisherman down at the wharf, one Arthur Lambrick also works as a smuggler. Not only to Canada, but to Europe. He can get ammunition as well as guns, and alcohol. I think it could be a profitable relationship."

Genghis held up a paw as he unlocked his office door. "Would you, firstly, care to slow down, and secondly," he opened the door, holding it open for her, "care to save mention of such things until we're away from prying ears. Sound carries on the water."

Clara looked rather unimpressed by that, and bit back several sarcastic retorts she was tempted to give. "I was speaking quietly," she said finally. "Now, as I was saying, he is a smuggler with very good connections and it looks like good quality products."

Genghis ushered her into his office, closing the door and taking a seat behind his desk, leaned back heavily in his chair, motioning her to the other. "Now, please start from the beginning." he had heard what she said well enough, but was making a point.

She looked even more unimpressed by that for a moment before smoothing her features, sitting gracefully in the chair and lifting her skirt out of the way as she did so before smoothing it back down before looking back up at him. "I have been working on a deal with a smuggler. I wished to run the specifics by you before we finalized it."

"Good," Genghis replied, temper just a little short that morning, "It would concern me greatly if you hadn't. What did you say his name was?"

"Arthur Lambrick," she replied, crossing one of her legs under her skirt.

Genghis recalled the tom he had spoken to a few days ago, and, more clearly still, recalled his vessel. "Captain of 'The Queen Of Hearts' or somesuch, if I'm not mistaken. What does he deal in?"

"Alcohol, both from Canada and Europe, and ammunition and guns."
