The judge entered the courtroom after the final recess, instructing everyone to be seated.
Munkustrap's eyes were on the jury, none gave the slightest glance at the defendant. They had returned rather quickly all told and considering the case, that was anything but a good sign. He glanced at Brachen, and could almost tell what the jury was going to say.
"Has the jury reached a verdict?"
The chairman rose, "We have, Your Honor. We find the defendant, Brachen Myre, guilty of all charges and recommend that he be punished to the full extent of the law."

Brachen's heart ran cold at those words. It was a sickly, prickling and cold feeling over his fur, and a slow, blackened sludge of fear forming inside of him. He was simultaneously alive in the most immediate way and - ...punished to the full extent of the law - a dead cat walking.

Coricopat glanced toward the defense table, managing to keep his thoughts well hidden from his features. Damn it, of all the cases to win it had to be this one...
Munkus glanced at Brachen, murmuring, "We can appeal this." If only enough to attempt for a stay of execution.
The judge nodded, "This court is adjourned. The defendant is to be remanded into custody until such time as his sentence is carried out."

Sonya considered the situation from where he was, unable to fully think of what his response was. The tom had killed a cop's family, and god knew how many others through his life, not counting those in Felidae. Yet... Yet Sonya was never entirely sure about the justice of executing somecat so clearly insane.
At any rate, the trial was over, and hopefully things would start to settle down again at the station.

Brachen was numb. "We knew it was a long shot."
He shouldn't have been surprised. He abdicated society a long time ago...it was time that society paid him back in fold.
Brachen smiled.
His ears folded back.
He laughed, a mad cackling that rose in intensity.

Coricopat looked over, shaking his head. Damn this jury. It didn't take a professional to see the cat was out of his mind.
Munkustrap glanced at Brachen in some alarm, but did nothing to stop him as the prison guards approached.

A guard grabbed Myre by the elbow, cuffing him and half dragging him off spot as they did so.
Brachen kept laughing, thrashed his body from side to side in a futile struggle - not even a struggle, it was so weak. He couldn't believe what was happening, really. Blood pumped through his ears in a dull roar, and his heart was thundering in his chest. "No! No! You can't do this to me!"
