Cori considered the other tom before answering, "Zimmerman."

Martin turned the same look on Macavity. "And Mr...?"
Sighing softly, Macavity nodded. "Hollister." He hated introductions. "May we come in then and discuss matters?"
Martin took a step aside from the door, waving his arm to invite the other's in.

Cori glanced at Macavity before stepping inside, his grey eyes scoping over the interior of the place. It wasn't much to write home about but he supposed it sufficed for the purpose it was intended to serve.

Martin glanced around the place. He'd not been doing terribly well since he returned to the States from the War, having been working as a clerk at odd hours and trying to find a place where his talents could actually be put to use. He wasn't sure he was desperate yet, but it was a close thing. "What do I owe the pleasure to this visit for?" he asked, looking the two over.
Macavity shrugged, pulling out a cigarette. "Figure considerin' where the recommendation came from, you adverse ta matters slightly on the wron' side of legality?"

Coricopat glanced at Macavity, deciding more and more that he wasn't sure about working with this cat. But, he was supposedly the best and they needed that.

That got Martin's eyebrows up behind his glasses and he considered the ginger tabby for a long moment. "Wrong side of legality? That's a long way of saying if I wouldn't mind working in the underworld." He considered Macavity's shrug. "What did you have in mind?"
Macavity pursed his lips for a moment. "We need information gatherin'," he replied. "Somecat ta look after things. We also need a desk clerk."
"Desk clerk?" that got Martin's entire attention. "Where?"
"My hotel. It's bein' finished now."
For a moment Martin almost protested that he didn't believe the other could own a hotel with an accent like that but he finally nodded.

"Of course the pay is good, and as he says the hotel is being finished now, it should be completed by the end of next week," Coricopat supplied. "The other part of the job would start as soon as you're able."

"I suppose I don't even have to ask you were you found the funds for something like this," Martin remarked.
Macavity's mouth twisted slightly. "Are you interested or not?"
"Don't you think it odd I would trust two random cats that walk through my door with a job offer?"
"How else would you get one?" he asked. "Besides, you look like you could use the money."

Coricopat looked the Brit over, "We were told you were the best, so we came to you functioning on that assumption. If we were told wrong we could certainly go somewhere else."

"I may be the best, but how do I know you're the best of my options?"
Macavity snorted. "You gettin' any other offers?" he asked, looking around again.
Mouth thinning, Martin finally sighed. "I suppose waiting around isn't going to do me much good. Let me finish the jobs I had done on contract and I will show up at... your hotel." Surely it would be in the unfashionable part of town, or cheaply built.

Coricopat nodded slightly, "Very well." He withdrew a card with the address of the hotel printed on it, glancing at Mac as he handed it over to Smith, "Here's the address."

Martin's eyes widened as he accepted it. Well... maybe the worksmanship was still soddy? He just couldn't believe a man with such a low class accent could make a classy hotel. "A-alright," he said. "I will be there in a few days."
"'reat!" Macavity said, rising and tipping his hat.
Martin winced slightly at the accent again.

Coricopat rose as well, tipping his hat to Smith, "Good evening to you, then."

Martin murmured some response, already distracted by his own thoughts.
Macavity looked him over once more. Outside, he turned to Coricopat. "Well?" he asked, wondering if the other had any observations.

"I think he's a pretentious Brit. From his expression when he saw the address he also functions on assumptions until proven otherwise, but beyond that we'll have to see. He's likely very good at what he actually does," Coricopat replied.
