Strolling through the slowly darkening streets, Macavity considered the spring air. It was still chilly enough to need a coat, but pleasant enough to be enjoyable.
Aside from the danger of this time of day, he quite enjoyed it. And was starting to feel confident enough in the streets to be out more. Finally moving out of that bastard's house and into his own penthouse had helped, though he was still too terrified of putting anyone else in harms way to bring his brother's with him.
He paused when he heard a sound, crouching and looking around.

Jerrie slipped out of a window down the side street. He gently eased the aperture shut, pocketing the string of pearls he'd lifted. Always best to take just one or two things from any given location.
He moved cautiously down the alley, it was iffy at best if he could make ends meet right now. He'd been trying to find work, but found that this was paying better anyhow. The torbie wasn't thieving often, after all it wouldn't do to get caught.

"You know," Macavity said, standing behind him, next to the window he'd exited. "You might want some more practice before actually goin' out and stealin' stuff."

The thief startled, whirling around, his claws unsheathed. He looked the other cat over, even as he judged whether it was better to beat a hast retreat or fight.

Macavity shrugged. "What? You think I'm turnin' you in? I would have already if I was goin' ta."

Macavity shrugged. "Company? Bit bored."

Jerrie blinked at him for a long moment, considering. He finally held out a paw, "Mungojerrie Wheeler."

"Macavity Hollister," he said, accepting the paw and shaking it. "You often turn ta thievin'?"

Jerrie shrugged, "Not often, but sometimes, yeah."

Macavity nodded. "Well, if you're considerin' it as a full time position, you might want ta invest in some look outs. Shall we walk?" he asked, grinning in the fading light. "Away from the scene I mean."

Jerrie returned the grin, "I think we shall. An' honestly I'm jus' usin' it 'til I c'n find a steady job. Hopin' things'll pick up soon."

"An admirable 'oal," Macavity murmured, leading the way down the street. "What sort do you do normally then?"

"Mostly odd-jobs. They should be pickin' up now that it's gettin' warmer. Too bloody cold 'round 'ere in th' winter for many people t' be lookin' for a handyman." He replied, falling into step with the other tom.

Macavity nodded. "You're not from around here I assume?"
