Macavity paced through his lobby, a couple of the guests giving him strange looks, let alone Martin at his desk, who occasionally would glance up at his boss and frown.
Macavity didn't give a damn about any of them. His hair hardly looked combed that morning either.

Coricopat entered the Demoniaque, the courthouse had been abuzz that day with the arrest of the murderer, and the DA had been quick to assign the case. He really wanted to deal with the 'sanity' of the underworld for a bit rather than with the murmurings at the courthouse.

Macavity's head turned as he noticed Coricopat enter, and he motioned for the other cat to come over, still pacing the floor.

Coricopat arched an eyebrow but moved over, watching the red tabby. "Mac?"

Macavity glanced at the other and then went back to pacing. "Stay here," he all but growled.

The mottled tom's ears flickered, but he leaned back against the wall, his eyes scanning the lobby.
Munkustrap entered the hotel, spotting his brother and making his way over. "You called, Mac?"

"Yes," he said, voice still barely above a growl, motioning at the pair. "Both of you, upstairs, now." He turned on his heel and stalked up the stairs.

Cori glanced at Munkustrap, arching an eyebrow. A defense attourney. Great. he turned and followed Macavity up the stairs.
Munkus' ears flickered, the ADA and his brother both in the same space and....Damnit he was hoping to avoid that case. He followed the other two, his tail swaying behind him.

Upon reaching his office, Macavity waited for both of them to enter before closing the door firmly behind them and stalking around to the front of his desk. "I assume you're both intelligent enough for me not ta have ta say anythin' out?" he asked, voice clipped. "Who's been assigned the case?"

"I have been. The courts have yet to assign him a defense council." Coricopat replied, glancing at Munkustrap.
The silver tabby's ears flickered, having a feeling he knew what the next question would likely be.

Macavity gave Coricopat a long look before turning to Munkustrap. "Do I even have ta ask or are you puttin' things together at a fast enough rate?"

Munkustrap sighed heavily, "Mac, you're asking me to lay any possibility of life in this city on the line for this."

Macavity paused for a moment, and considered. "Was that a no?"

"That was neither a yes nor a no. I want to know why." Munkustrap replied quietly.

"I'm askin' isn't enough?" Mac asked, voice losing a bit of the growl finally. "I wouldn't be askin' if I didn't care about the case. Do you need ta know more?"
