Tugger shrugged, "Like I said, I don't want'y in that postion. Besides, y'might think dif'rently if I told'y." he shook his head, "It really ain't nothin' personal," Cat, he seemed to be saying that a lot today, "but I ain't told no one and I ain't plannin' to. S'jus' easier that way."

"The only reason I would break that trust is if you were doing something that was a danger to yourself, but fine. I'll leave it be."

Tugger considered his brothers' reaction when he'd mentioned joining the police force the first time around. He still had no idea how he'd swing it with the bootlegging, so on those grounds it might be considered a danger, he supposed it just made it even more important not to get caught. "Probably you're better off not knowin' then."

"Everlasting Cat, Tugger!" Grids finally exclaimed, exasperated. "Are you jumping off a cliff next week or something? Cause really that's what I mean by danger to yourself. Forget it. Forget I asked."

Tugger sighed, "No, I ain't jumpin' off no cliffs." he fought to keep the growl out of his tone as he spoke. "I just ain't doin' somethin' that most cats I know would approve of me doin', alright. So I gotta' wait until I got the chance t'prove that I can make it work before I tell 'em."

"Like I said: forget I asked." Her tone was clipped as she turned back to her work.

Great! Tugger's ears flattened as he went back to scrubbing tables, he'd hoped at least that Griddlebone would somehow be more understanding than Mistoffelees had been, yet somehow he seemed to have wound up in the same uncomfotable position again.
Tugger went on working in the silence for as long as he could bear, before finally turning back to Griddlebone, "Y'mind if I stick the radio on?" anything was better than this.

Grids sighed, "Go ahead, I don't mind."

Tugger wasted no time in fetching the radio from the kitchen, setting it on the bar top and tuning it in to the first station that he could find, caring less about what it actually was than something to break the silence.
((Considering the idea that something about Brachan's arrest/trial whatever stage it's at by this point, could maybe come on the radio. Just because I've not had much chance to have Tug respond to those events yet.))

Griddlebone's tail swayed in time to the rhythm from the radio.
((The trial hasn't started and he was caught a couple days before...I don't know that there would be information on the radio. Tugger's welcome to bring the case up though.))

((Nah, forget it in that case. I'm not sure precisely what he does/doesn't know about it at present but he wouldn't bring it up, in case he accidentally mentions that he's been with the PD.))
Tugger returned to cleaning tables, the song playing was a good match to his mood, slow and somewhat bitter in the lyrics. Tugger was humming along much faster than he would have been if it were a upbeat number, and soon he was singing along too, albeit quietly, voice naturally carrying the tune picking up the right inflections without his giving it much thought.

Griddlebone glanced at him, pausing before asking, "You heard they caught that cat?" She assumed he had, unless he'd been living under a rock.

Tugger's ears flicked at her words, now she wanted to talk? And about that of all things... "Mmm." he agreed, trying not to think about how things had felt for the last few days at the station. Even the trainees had been pulled in to help with the search, though they'd not been in the party who caught Brachan. However, even after the arrest, you could practically taste the run of emotions in the air at the station.

Oh that was useful. "Any thoughts on that whole thing?" She was trying, Bast knew it wasn't a topic she cared for, but that and Macavity were what was on her mind, and since Macavity likely wasn't a topic Tugger would discuss....

Tugger shrugged, "Like what?" From what he'd seen and heard about the murders, Tugger was pretty much of the opinion that the cat deserved everything he got.
