Jack nodded. "Home life all fun and games, as per usual?" he asked, quietly, fingering the rim of his glass. The circular motion on the wet rim of the glass produced a quiet, but clear note.

Tugger snorted, "Somethin' like that." he was glad the black eye had faded. his ear flicked instinctively towards the sound and he shook his head, he'd come her to unwind, not think about the bad parts of his life.

"Sorry I asked," Jack said with a raised eyebrow, studying his friend. Hmm, he sure had a lot on his mind lately. Well, again, if Tugger didn't want to talk about it, Jack wouldn't prod. In stead, he passed the new drink over to Tug, when the bartender appeared with them.

Tugger tossed back the last of his first drink before accepting the second glass. "Sorry, like I said, things'll get better."

Jack nodded, with a small smile. "I'm sure they will."

Tugger managed to return the smile, though his was a little forced to start with. He was silent for a moment, glancing around the speakeasy as he allowed himself to relax again.
His spirits returned properly when he caught the eye of an attractive queen for a moment or two, chuckling as she gave him a coy look, until another tom approached, putting a protective arm about her shoulders. Tugger didn't miss her expression, a look of disappointment, and turned back to Jack with a much more infectious grin.

Jack followed Tugger's line of sight, and chuckled. Of course it was an attractive queen. Shame she was already taken. He offered Tugger a small shrug and a lopsided grin. His friend was looking more like himself again. Good.

Tugger just grinned wider, "Y'know, she looks awfully bored with him..."

Jack laughed. "Reckon you can get her, tiger?" he said with a grin, almost a challenge.

Tugger arched an eyebrow, weighing the idea up out loud. "Pros: she's attractive an' she seems interested. Cons: I don't fancy gettin' in no fights with the tom she's with an' if she looks that bored with him, she could be jus' a tease anyhow." he shook his head, "It's temptin' but I ain't sure it's worth my effort." a pause, "Or havin' your brother throw me out f'fightin'."

Jack chuckled. "All good points, 'specially that last one. Taradan doesn't like brawls," he said with a grin, and added, "shame though, woulda been entertaining watching you chase her."

Tugger arched an eyebrow, refusing to rise to the bait that quickly, "Well I'd do better than you. Unless y'want t'try an' prove me otherwise?" he challanged back.

Jack chuckled. "I'm sure you would. I think I'll pass on this one, I've got my eyes on another queen," he said with a grin.
