Coricopat smiled thinly, doing his best to ignore the implication, though he felt the fur along his spine rise ever so slightly. "I've seen no indication of abnormal behavior from your nephew, nor has his employer. Now, perhaps you would recall what I do for a living and stop lying to me."

"I hardly see what the ADA has to say about a card dealer," Jones said, smirking slightly. He hoped he would manage to get the other to actually admit to working with the gang, even though it was obvious enough. Or at least get more information about where he worked int whatever organization was coming out of the Demoniaque. He doubted the mottled tom was the Hidden Paw himself, but he seemed high enough in any hierarchy. "And that just means you clearly have not been around the lad enough. Though perhaps that would be good for you, hm?"

Coricopat examined his claws, damnit they were still too short to carry a file for them. "I already told you, The Demoniaque is a client of mine."

Jones shrugged. Every moment he was starting to suspect a little bit more. "And you still to think I had something to do with it?"

Coricopat looked the other cat over, frowning. "Have I been unclear on that point?"

"Perhaps not," Jones said with a sigh. "But I had hoped I would be able to convince you otherwise. Well, so long as you're here, is there anything you might like? Food, wine?"
((Compare directly to Misto's offer of food just a little bit ago...))

Coricopat's nose wrinkled at the offer. The thought of dining with Jones revolting him. "No, thank you. May I inquire as to why you had your nephew worked over?"

"Well," Jones said and shook his head. "The brat betrayed me, didn't he?"

Cori's brow rose sharply at that. "How so?"

"Come now," Jones drawled. "You seemed so intelligent. Clearly, he changed sides on me. There could have been no other way for your boss to end up with such detailed information on those locations under my control and he works every day in your hotel, does he not? Who else would have told on me, hm? He deserved it, for betraying his blood."

Coricopat considered this, shrugging. "Regardless, I strongly recommend that you keep away from workers at the Demoniaque in the future."

"I will hardly stand for you telling me how to treat my nephew," Jones huffed.

Coricopat straightened, his grey eyes narrowing. "That wasn't actually up for debate, Jones. Stay away from the Demoniaque's employees."

A mirthless smile flickered on Coricopat's face as he flexed his claws. "It doesn't take much to gain control in an area like this."
