Teazer was so thrown by the question, she actually took a step backwards, mortified, she could feel her face flushing beneath her fur. "I... I... He..." she gave an involuntary shudder thinking about Martin. "Look, I, I really want y'to know that day... she trailed off again, eyes studying the floor. "I'm sorry about that whole thing. An' I wanted you to know, it really wasn't what it musta' looked like. Not that I think you... I mean you got no reason, why wouldya'... I just thought you should know."

Sonya paused for a long moment, taking another swallow of coffee. "Oh it... was not then?" Damn, did he sound hopeful? He should not sound hopeful...

Flushing furiously she met his eyes for the briefest of moments, "No," before glancing quickly back at the floor, "it wasn't any kind of date." she added to her toes.
"I thought of him as a friend," she said after a moment, "nothin' more. As it happens," her voice, quiet to start with, was now only just audiable, "he turned out t'be a nasty piece of work." her tail curled in shame as she spoke, ears already flat on her head. "I was stupid t'trust him."

"Oh," Sonya said softly. "That, well, I... am sorry you had to deal with something like that then."

Teazer shook her head, still not looking back up, "S'my own fault anyway." she glanced briefly in the direction of the kitchen. "I should be gettin' on."

"I... of course," he murmured.

Teazer twisted her paws in her apron pocket, wanting to say something more before she left, but not knowing what. "Yeah," she managed finally, "but yeah, I'm sorry about what happened." she turned to go back to work, finally daring to meet his eyes again for a second before she left.

His eyes followed her as she left. "There... was no need to be sorry," he said softly, settling back down to finish the cup of coffee.

She'd already looked away again by the time he spoke, but her ears pricked up just a fraction at his words, she paused for a second.
"Wheeler!" there was shout from the kitchen, her boss was glaring from the doorway "You've got customers waiting, get moving or you can forget coming in tomorrow!"
Teazer's ears flattened again, and she flushed pink, quickly hurrying to take an order.

He watched her go, finishing his coffee slightly therefore, thinking about it, and figuring he might only need one cup in that sitting.

She was kept busy for quite some time, and aware of being under scrutiny from the direction of the kitchen, though Teazer threw the occasional glance in Sonya's direction too, as if checking he were still there.

Sonya mostly sat looking out one of the windows, though occasionally he pushed the empty cup of coffee around slightly. No, he did not actually have to be at work, but he should get some more done.

After a few moments more, Teazer dissapeared into the kitchen again, returning with another cup of coffee. She said nothing, but deposited it on Sonya's table, and went back to work.

He blinked rapidly at that, almost protesting it to say he had not actually wanted the second cup of coffee, but settled back down, considering it. With a slight shrug of his shoulders, he figured he might as well drink it. It was in front of him after all.

Teazer wasn't quite sure of her motivation here, but it felt like their conversation wasn't over. She didn't want him to go whilst she was unable to talk to him.
