Coricopat's eyebrow arched. "You do realize that unless he's working for us I can't guarantee any sort of protection for him, yes? As you said, he's thirteen."

Taradan felt the fur rise on the back of his neck. He nodded, "I know. I bin' talking to him," he sighed, "as we've established, 'e's thirteen, an' too smart f'his own good."

Coricopat looked unimpressed. "Well obviously he hasn't heard you. I'm going to make this simple for you, Logan. Your brother is either an asset or a hindrance. You determine which he is, am I clear?"

Taradan had to force himself not to growl, knowing full well that what he had just heard was a direct threat to his family. "An' if I can stop him workin' f'Jones?" he asked through gritted teeth, hoping there might be a way out that didn't involve putting Ricky in danger.

Taradan nodded, "Right." There was a way out then, one that meant Ricky would stay protected. The problem then, would be convincing his little brother.

"As I said, though, ideally he stays working for Jones." The tone left a marked indication that that was the best option for assets to Ricky and possibly to Taradan as well.

Taradan had to push back another growl as he rose. "You'll let me know the details f'new years?" he had no idea what he was going to do about Ricky, better to make sure he couldn't do anything else to get in anyone's bad books at the same time.
