Sonya rubbed a heavy paw over his face. Just what he needed. A court case that needed him as an expert witness more than anything else. A court case being run by that smug, cold bastard Zimmerman. Just who he needed to deal with.
He needed coffee. Possibly a pond of it.

Coricopat approached, his shoes clicking on the floor. "Commissioner Vlask. So glad you could make it."

He rubbed said paw over his face again. "So pleased to be here," he rumbled. "Can we get this over with?"

"I believe we can." He motioned to the courtroom. "After you, Commissioner."

Sonya walked into the courtroom, glancing around and trying to take note of the set up the situation and what other people were there, either as witnesses, observers, and who was acting judge.

Coricopat moved up to the prosecutor's desk, greeting the cat he'd been saddled with as second chair with a nod.

Sonya watched the case, he would not come up for a couple witnesses yet, and this was the second day. He was not entirely sure why he had even been called in on this one: it seemed like just another rum-runner who had been caught and brought to trial.

Coricopat stepped out of the courtroom after the jury had left. They had this one, exactly how he wanted it. The cat was going away for a while if he had anything to say about it. It would keep that gang out of Macavity's way.

Sonya was making a break for the door. What the hell had that all been? On one hand, yes, putting rum-runners away was a good thing, but he was not entirely sure the cat deserved that harsh a sentence as Zimmerman was pushing for... of course, Zimmerman had always been overly zealous. He was just glad he was done testifying and could get back to real work... or get a decent cup of coffee.

"Leaving so soon, Commissioner? You're not going to stay for the verdict?"

Sonya winced and turned slowly to face the other. "There is no need for me to stay is there?" he asked. "After all, unlike you I can actually go out into the sunlight and do not have to wait until nightfall to leave."

The ADA smiled thinly. "Oh how clever. You must tell me how you overcame that stipulation."

Sonya snorted, and it could have been considered a laugh if it was not around Zimmerman. "Lots of coffee," he said. "And a soul. It helps."

"I'm sure it does. But on the other hand the lack of necessity for sleep is a useful trait when working long hours for cases, no?"

Sonya inclined his head. "It might certainly help, this is true, and yet I am still attached to mine quite strongly. Sadly, you will have to find some other cats to turn."
