"Mmm, I've got some case files with me I can work on if not. I'll speak to you later Mac." She slipped from the room a lot more quietly than she'd come in, and went to find somecat to get her a key to one of the spare rooms on the floor reserved for henches.
Once settled in the room, Tantomile spent an hour or more trying to think of anything that might aid her brother's whereabouts, before taking out a batch of asessments to write up. It was mind-numbing work, copying her personal notes into a legible form for filing, but exactly what she needed right now. Eventually, she paused for a moment to rest her head on the table, and meantal fatigue took over as she fell asleep on the spot.

Sometime around three in the morning, Mac came down, pounding on her door.

Tantomile jerked awake, her brain taking a moment to work out where she was and what was happening before she registerd the violent knocking. Another moment, and she was opening the door. "Mac, you've heard something?"

The red tabby nodded. "He's been found, and he's alive, though pretty injured."

It took Tantomile's sleep-addled brain a second to process this, but when she did, relief passed momentarily across her features, followed by worry as she tried to filter the most urgent question through the many that were now clamouring in her head to be asked. "Is he... will he..? How serious are we talking?" she swallowed, putting a paw on Macavity's arm and meeting his gaze. "He'll live?"

"He's alive, he'll live," Mac replied, even more curt than usual that late at night. "He won't be mobile for a while, and he'll hate it, but he'll live."

Tantomile exhaled slowly, closing her eyes in momentary relief. When she opened them again, the first thing she realised was that she still had her paw on Macavity's arm, which he seemed to be tolerating surprisingly well, however, fully aware of the other cat's general aversion to being touched, she withdrew her paw quickly.
"That's good news then, not ideal, but much better than it could have been at least. I... thank you for letting me know. Where is he now?"

Mac drew both his arms in to cross them over his chest, but otherwise made no comment or motion in regards to where her paw had been. "His house. The Doctor thinks he shouldn't be moved and he wasn't draggin' him all the way ta the hotel."

Tantomile nodded, "Cohen found him?" she asked, putting two and two together to figure that if Macavity had only just heard the news, it was unlikely he would have been able to dispatch the doctor and get a report back on her brother's condition that quickly.

Another nod from Mac. "Yeah, Cohen found him, took him ta his house and got him patched up. He should be back on his feet in less than a week, though he'll be limpin'..."

She bit her lip briefly at that, "Did Cohen say what the injuries were?"

Mac sighed. "It's three in the mornin'. You want ta know, you can stop by tomorrow and ask him yourself." He was too jittery at the moment for what to him amounted for small talk.

Tantomile bit back a hiss at that, he was her brother damnit, and cold bastard that he usually was or not, she felt entitled to know. "I'm asking now Mac," she knew it was dangerous to press the matter with Macavity's current mood, but she couldn't back down that easily, and played the only card she hoped might get a better response, of course, on the other hand, it could go the opposite way as well, "think how you'd feel if it was one of your brothers, you'd want to know."

Macavity growled at her. "First of all, darlin', the name is Macavity, and as your boss, you might consider goin' all out for Mr. Hollister. Secondly? Go see him your damn self then if you're so worried, but you've never acted like it before. And I never treated my brothers the way you treated yours, so don't make comparisons."
((... *Pokes Mac Muse* Oi? What was all that?))

"The way I treated him...!" it was out before she even thought about checking herself. She didn't need this job anyway, she reminded herself, sure it was a little extra, but the time she spent working for Macavity could easily be filled in with private clients, they payed just as well, rich and neurotic seemed to go together in this town. For now, at least though, she refrained from saying any more of that out loud. "In the time we've spent arguing about it you could have just told me." she said finally, tight lipped and forcing her tone to come out level. "I fully intend to go and see him tomorrow, but it would be nice to know what to expect." especially when he'll be /so/ delighted with my visit anyway, "I didn't realise it was going to be asking so much of you for the answer."
