Coricopat wrinkled his nose, poking at the meal in front of him. His ears lay back and his lip curled in a sneer at it. "This is what we're serving for breakfast?"

Peter gave him a rather unimpressed look. "Is there something wrong with it?" he demanded, not too pleased to be working New Years day anyway, and certainly not to deal with the damn mottled tom.

"To begin with? The eggs are underdone, and the ham is overdone, it's the texture of rubber."

Peter's eyes only narrowed at that. "I shall have you know, we have some of the best cooks in the city working here," he snapped. "You're just..." he bit back his comment on what exactly the damn lawyer was.

Peter gaped at the other in sheer shock and rage.
It was about that time that Mac held the door open for Griddlebone, walking in on a mostly empty restaurant.

Mac blinked at the shorter cat. "Um, what?"

Griddlebone's eyebrow rose sharply, glancing at Mac in confusion.
Cori watched the cook go, a smug smirk on his lips.

Peter shook his head, stalking out, throwing his apron on a chair on his way out.
Mac continued to blink, his eyes finally scanning the room and noticing Coricopat. "Cor..."

"The hell?" Mac asked, shaking his head. "It's bloody New Years and you 'et the cook ta quit?"

Cori smiled thinly. "Yes, it is New Year's. Three hours of sleep." He glanced past Mac to where Griddlebone was standing. "I hope that work went well."
Grids ears flickered back a bit at that, her chin rising as her pride was pricked.

Mac nearly growled at Coricopat. "It went fantastic," he said, voice low and border-lining dangerous. "Enjoy the rest of the party then?"

"Oh, it was riveting. Besides, that cook's been a pain since you hired him."
