Name: Griddlebone Hollister
Aliases: Grids to close friends, Milady, ma’am, and to the ‘Ribbon girls she used to kick out of The Fishbone? “The pirate’s whore.”
Age: 32
Build: Griddlebone stands at a shapely 5’10” that is mostly leg. An hourglass figure on the slightly huskier side of average, she is the opposite of the popular boyish style of the day.
Origin: Grids was born to a single mother on the poor side of town near the docks. She’s lived in Felidae all her life, trapped in that same area.
Occupation: She was one of the girls at the Red Ribbon for many years and spent several more running The Fishbone for Growltiger. Currently, she's the bride to Macavity Hollister, hotel owner.
Eyes: Sea Green
Hair: She wears her hair long, parted on the left side so that it comes down to cascade over the right side of her face in the peekaboo style that would become popular a decade or two later. Formally styled, Everyday. Her hair is white, as is the rest of her long fur.
Scars: One along her hairline on the right side, it’s one of the reasons she wears her hair as she does. There are a couple from her days at the Red Ribbon, after all, not all the toms who frequented that place were gentle.
Fur/Markings: Long, pure white fur. She might have some Persian in her, but is a genuine American mutt: uncertain as to her heritage or breed.
Attire: For day-wear she wears low-waisted dresses in blue or green, with the occasional red. Her favorite outfit closely resembles THIS ((Without the wrap)). Her night clothes…well, really only she and her husband need to know the answer to that. Her formal wear is something like this with a bright blue under the black.
Accessories: She wears an elegant silver necklace that Macavity gave her in December 1925, changing it out once in a while for something more suited to her outfit. She also never goes without her wedding ring.
WOC: She’s very good with her claws, but she also carries a knife hidden on her person and a small revolver strapped to her upper thigh.
Appearance: Griddlebone keeps her appearance elegant and suited to the wife of a figure such as Macavity Hollister, though her long hair tends toward fly-aways at the ends and her penchant for bright colors contrasts vividly with her white fur. She uses bright lipstick, and usually a bit of kohl to off-set her eyes. She carries herself with a poise of a true Lady, but there’s just enough of the rough and tumble street-kit in her to make sure she means business. Her eyebrows are dark in contrast with her snowy fur and the slightly angular shape of her face is softened by the curve of her hair.
Personality: Griddlebone has moments of severe cynicism, but often it’s as a result of immediate occurrences that tie to something she’s experienced before. She can be jaded, though it doesn’t always show through. After all, neither are especially favorable traits and both tend to send cats who don’t possess an equal amount of them scurrying in the other direction. She’s not one to worry overly much about other cats’ opinions, but she does know how important it is to keep their opinions good when in a position such as she and Mac are. She's got a good rein on her tongue and makes certain to keep a smile and a good word available for each cat she has to communicate with.
Grids will flirt, she sees no harm in it, but she tries to remain loyal to the cats she truly cares about. A smile, a laugh, a sway of her hips are all things that happen automatically. There was a time she had no choice but to flirt, and she’s still trying to shed the habit. With toms it’s flirting, and when there’s a queen involved she turns an open ear to hear their troubles. She’s willing to listen, and often wishes she could do more, but it isn’t something she’s able to help with often. She is easy enough to talk to and finds herself making friends easily—though she will rarely, if ever, classify most cats as that. There’s a level of trust that requires giving of herself that she’s not willing to give without a damn good reason.
Milady can be rather hypocritical in her treatment of some cats around her. She cannot stand the girls currently in residence at the Red Ribbon. She claims to have no association with that place, and tries to convince herself she has little to no respect for Grizabella, but she also knows that if anything goes truly out of control in her life there’s no one she’ll turn to quite so quickly as the older queen. As much as she hates it, in her mind Griza is the closest thing she has to a mother-figure, and she would rather turn to her than to some cat she doesn’t know she can trust. That state has changed somewhat since marrying the oldest son who Grizabella abandoned, but Grids is willing to give up the connection with Grizabella for the sanity for Macavity.
Special skills: She can mix up just about any drink a cat could want.
Weaknesses: Griddlebone has a strong weakness in regards to Macavity, and a protective weakness regarding their two kits. Besides these emotional weak points she has bouts of dizziness that were diagnosed as damage to her inner ear as a kit.
Fears: Poverty, being alone again, and losing the interest of Macavity.
Likes: Glittery things (read: silver, gold, and the occasional gem), wealth, reddish tabbies, her opinion being heard and considered.
Dislikes: Women of the night, exploitive men, being ignored, decisions.
History: Griddlebone was born to a single-mother who raised her until the elder queen grew badly ill and died. Her daughter was no more than 8. The little kit spent the next year begging and finding scraps in the dustbins until the Madame of the Red Ribbon found her and took her in as a dresser for the performers.
The remainder of her childhood was spent being assimilated into the family at the ‘Ribbon and she was content… Until she was pushed out onto the floor. Working in the background at the brothel was one thing, but when the 16-year-old was forced out to the waiting paws of the tomes, any innocence she had retained vanished.
She caught the eye of many a tom, but none wanted much more from her than a moment and another shred of herself. She was extremely choosy about the toms she took to her bed. It was during this time that she earned the mocking name of “Lady” Griddlebone from some of the girls who less picky so long as they made money in the end. This was also when he came in. She was nearly 22 and had been "performing" for 6 years. He kept coming back and finally worked out a deal with the Madame to purchase Griddlebone’s history away from the Red Ribbon. The thought of being sold away was more horrifying and humiliating than her first night on the floor 6 years before, but on her 24th birthday, or right around then, he came to her with a thin gold necklace and told her that she was free from the burlesque house and he had use for her in his own business.
Certain she knew what he meant Griddlebone resigned herself to a life worse than the one she’d already known, but was surprised when she was given a position in running his speak while he was away. She gradually worked off her debt to him, during which time she found she was more than grateful to him. They became lovers and every year, to mark the passing of time he gave her a charm he’d picked up or traded for to hang on the gold chain that was his original gift to her.
Growltiger departed for several months and Griddlebone found a new love in Macavity Hollister. She is now married to the hotel owner/mob boss and they have two kits. She finds herself happier with that arrangement than she ever thought she could be.
Love Interest: Griddlebone didn’t expect anything more than a brief fling to come of her time with Macavity, but the more time they spend married the more she finds herself liking the arrangement.
