Sonya frowned at that response. "So then, was there anything else? You're not here to inform me of anything, like staying away from her? Because you seem the type to gallantly try something such as that."

Jerrie looked unimpressed at that. "I considered it, but since she says there ain't nothin' goin' on I'm gonna take my sister's word. Anythin' happens to 'er though, it'll be a different story."

Sonya considered him and then nodded. "Fair enough," he said finally. Though he was damn sure nothing was going to happen to her that he could prevent.

Jerrie turned to go, but paused, turning back, finally asking what was really on his mind. "What're y' intentions with 'er?"

Sonya blinked, paused for a long moment, and blinked again. "I have no... intentions," he said. "At least, not nearly in the way you seem to be implying. I enjoy her company, and I end up in the cafe often enough. When I found out she was going to have to stay late last night, I decided I would rather see her home safely than take a risk, and, well, it was not like I was getting out of the office before then anyway."

Jerrie studied the other tom for a moment longer and then nodded, seeming to decide on the truth of that statement. "A'right. Well, thanks." A pause. "Take care, sir."

"And you," Sonya replied, still annoyed.

Jerrie glanced toward him one last time before slipping out of the office and out of the Station, breathing a soft sigh of relief once he was on the sidewalk again. He'd been mistaken and frankly he didn't mind too much.
((exit Jerrie))

Sonya watched him go and dropped somewhat in his chair. He almost liked the other tom too, but he could not quite figure out whether or not what he had said to him had been entirely true. He could hardly decide if he had any intentions or not, let alone inform someone else about them. His ear flickered in the silence of the room as he considered and shook his head. Even if he had intentions, what would she think of them? Did many young queens want a divorced Police Commissioner anyway?
