Jerrie left the door open for Teazer as he headed into the front room, turning on the lights and drawing the curtains. He moved over to the fireplace, locating a box of matches and some kindling to start warming the house up. He knelt in front of the fireplace, his tail still twitching behind him as he attempted to get a fire going.

Teazer came in a moment later, shutting the door quietly behind her, she padded quickly upstairs to deposit coat and bag in her bedroom, before tentatively coming back down. For a moment she watched her brother from the living room doorway, "I'll get the kettle on." she said softly, hoping maybe, just maybe, he'd leave it at that.

He'd finally gotten the fire lit. He rocked back on his heels, glancing over his shoulder at her. "Fine."

Her ears flicked back at the single syllable reply. "Jer', don't be like that, please."

He rose, turning to face her fully. "Like what?"

She folded her arms across her chest, frowning at her brother. "Y'know full well what." Teazer sighed, softening a little, "C'mon Jer, I'm too tired f'this."

This was it then. Not that she could complain, she'd all but asked for the argument, though really she'd prefer this than the coldness.
"Would y'prefer it I'd walked home by myself?"

"Ain't no busses runnin' this late. An' I told you, he's a customer, comes in a lot." better not to mention that Sonya's frequenting of the cafe was only a recent thing.

"No, but I don't often work that late neither, Jer, really, he was jus' bein' a gentleman. Didn't think you'd have such a problem with anycat who thinks the same as you about me bein' out late on my own." Actually she'd known he would, but she didn't understand the why. There was protective, and then some.

"Anubis' Fangs, Teazer. 'E's a cop! Glad y' found someone safe t' walk y' home, but I dunno 'ow 'safe' cops are in this town either." He grit out, his paws fiddling with the carving still in his pocket.

"Actually Jer, his bein' a cop ain't got nothin t'do with it. He actually reminds me of you! Figured anycat who's straight as you can't be out with any bad intent. An' I'd like t'think I know a sleaze when I see one."

"Is bein' a cop's got everythin' t' do wid it. If he ain't a dirty cop we're worse off than b'fore, or did ya forget what's in th' basement?"
