Clara sat on top of a barrel, her feet propped up on the swell in the middle of it, smoking a cigarette quite gracefully as she looked out over the ocean. It was still afternoon, hardly dark out yet, and she was musing on what to do until the meeting at nightfall.
Taking another drag, she glanced around, ears flickering slightly in the breeze. Her long coat mostly covered her flimsy and honestly pathetic dress, but her legs were cold. Those damn fashionable stockings were terrible protection and hardly fit to be seen in public, not to mention the length of the skirt. Whoever thought this was fashion must have been out of their mind, and she flat out refused to put on her colche hat quite yet.

Jerrie strolled down the quayside, he wasn't getting work with Milady any more, but he was able to find work elsewhere when he needed it. Thank Bast he'd been able to find it down here for most of the day today. It was about time to start heading home, but he did have to stop by that damn PI's place on his way there, so... He shook his head, he wasn't going to think about that if he could avoid it. At least not until he had to. He'd had a good day so far and he wouldn't let that stop him enjoying just a few more minutes.

Clara turned her head, making sure the motion was slow rather than the panicked reaction she wanted to give whenever there was a loud noise, or any unexpected sound. She eyed the tom approaching, taking another long drag.

The torbie tom paused, his tail swishing lazily behind him. "Evenin', Miss."

She eyed him through the smoke of her cigarette. "Evening," she replied, voice mild. She was glad that her Lee-Enfield was safely stowed behind the barrel she was sitting on. Her revolver was in its usual, easy to reach place though. Her own tail lay behind her, half curled around her seated position.

He looked around, no cat else about. Huh. "Bit of a rough area to be out on your own in."

Her eyes narrowed at him before she forced her face to smooth out. Gently she rolled one shoulder. "You're on your own too," she replied smoothly.

He grinned a bit at that. "Suppose that's true. On m' way out though."

She offered him a somewhat fake smile in return. "I'm just passing time." Another drag as she continued to consider him. Hm, accent. Interesting. However did he end up here? She had mostly managed to get rid of her accent, forming a decent enough general American one in the years since she left Europe.

He raised an eyebrow at that. "Sittin' alone at the docks. Sounds like a great plan for passin' time." Jerrie shrugged. It wasn't really his business he supposed.

She smiled lazily at him. "Got any better suggestions then?"

His ears twitched a bit at that. "Perhaps kill time somewhere not so open?"

She shrugged again, taking another drag and realizing the cigarette was about to burn out. Clucking her tongue she put it out against the side of the barrel, tossing the butt toward the ocean. "But I like the open," she replied, lazy grin still in place, keeping an eye on his reactions.

Jerrie grinned a bit, shaking his head again. "How long you gonna be waitin'?"

She glanced at the sun before her watch. "Probably another hour or so," she said, annoyed when she realized how long a time it was.
