The shrug Tugger gave was non-commital. "Whatever you want t'show me I guess."

Mac glanced back at him and shrugged as well. He led the way out of the office into the main part of the floor, which was the ballroom. He paused about halfway across the floor, turning back to his brother. "Hey, did you two get the invitation yet?"

Tugger had been looking about him in some awe but greater discomfort. "Invitation?"

"That's probably a no then," Mac said, tapping one paw against his leg. "Should have gone out by now. But this New Years, hostin' a ball here. You and 'Straps are both invited." Dad is not, he left unsaid.

Tugger was mildly surprised at that, and a little more uncomfotable too. He knew it was a gesture of goodwill on his brother's part, but the idea of a formal ball in this place unsettled him, as if he hadn't felt out of place enough already. "Might've got it," he sidestepped having to comment on the occasion itsself, "Deuteronomy might've burnt it f'all I know. Munk's out too early in the mornin' for the post, and today there was nothin' when I left."

Mac's posture when rigid at the mention of his father's name. "Ah," he said, voice strained. "I'll keep that in mind next time I plan ta mail anythin'." He took a breath. "At any rate, you're invited." He turned, going the rest of the way across the hall until they reached the elevator.

"Thanks." Tugger's tone was a little gruff, though he was trying. He frowned for a second at the elevator. "This place is a bleedin' maze."

Mac rolled a shoulder. "It's not that bad if you're used to it," he said, opening the elevator gate.

"Well you'd better be showin' me the way out again when I leave, because I'm sure as hell not used to it." and he likely wouldn't get used to it either.

"Drivin' you down to the docks, aren't I?" Mac asked, deciding from Tugger's reactions it might just be a better idea to take him up to the penthouse.

"I guess, if that ain't a problem with you?" Tugger agreed, following his brother into the elevator.

"I should I would yesterday," he replied, mildly, not thinking about the conversation afterward. Well, he said he would drive Tugger, not actually go into the Fishbone.

Tugger shrugged, "Still." a pause, "Appreciate it though."

"'Course," Mac said, and stepped out of the elevator a moment later, opening the door to the penthouse and walking inside, assuming Tugger would follow him.

Tugger did follow, still trying to take in his surroundings at the same time. "How many floors up?" he asked after a moment.
