"Everythin' you need is a shitty little apartment with broken down furniture? Sure," he eyed the couch again and winced when he saw the claw marks he had left on it. "I don't like owin' cats favors. I owe you one from years ago and I don't want ta owe you another." Especially not to him, dear god he didn't want to owe this cat another favor.

Mac blinked at that, finally turning his head away. His paws shifted in his lap. He considered for a moment. "How were things before?" he asked softly, figuring it was too private of a question but curious.
