He froze at that, pausing for a long moment before shaking his head. "I have an elder brother, but we don't talk."

She noticed his posture at that. "I'm sorry, I didn't... I shouldn't have asked."

"No, it's fine. We just...don't see him much."

She nodded. "That's too bad. He still in town or...?"

Munkus nodded very slightly, hoping she wouldn't continue this line of questioning. He'd prefer not to outright lie to her. "I'm pretty sure most folks born in Felidae remain trapped here."

She laughed softly at that. "I guess that's true enough. I know of one that got out... though, he didn't last too long out there," she added, frowning. "Anyway, I'm sorry, you came here to be cheered up and I keep asking the wrong questions."

He chuckled. "Actually I came in to buy some groceries and tell you hello."

"Are you saying that wouldn't cheer you up?" she asked with an arched brow.

The tabby backpedaled as best he could. "No, not at all, I'm just saying that the cheering up was secondary to seeing you. An...added bonus you might say."

She laughed, leaning forward and putting her paw on his cheek again. "I was joking," she said. "I'm fairly sure I knew what you mean." She leaned up to kiss his cheek before going back around the counter. "And the correct answer would be that seeing me would be enough to cheer you up," she gave him a playful smile.

A soft, slightly sheepish, smile played about his features. "Pretty much."

She grinned at him, looking at the groceries he had brought up. "Would you like me to ring those up for you?" she asked, giving them a slightly disapproving look.

"If you would." He studied her a moment. "What's the look for?"

"What look?" she asked, shifting through the pile. He lived with his brother, and unless said brother got his groceries himself, there was far too little food here. Especially if someone else lived with them which is what it sounded like. Wasn't much she could do though.

He arched an eyebrow, but didn't say anything more on the subject. "My mistake."
