Mac's eyebrow rose and he glanced over at Griddlebone. "Mostly fine," he said slowly. "Startin' ta prepare for the ball at the end of this month..."

The queen straightened from the last table she'd been cleaning, brushing her hair back again as she tried to remember what else needed to be done. She met Macavity's eyes briefly, but turned her attention to the bartop.

Mac's eyes narrowed at that, keeping his gaze on her but not calling her out on it.

Tugger was about to question that further but he saw Griddlebone look around the place and remembered he was meant to be working. "Look, Mac, I gotta get back to work." a pause, "But can we... if you ain't got plans for later... damnit, I told Munk I'd be in half six at the latest. You could always drop by the house?" he finished hopefully, though he already had a feeling it was a long shot.

Mac finally tore his gaze from Griddlebone and returned it to his brother. He opened his mouth, considered and shook his head. "I'm not goin' back ta that house," he said quietly. "I swore that and I'm not. But... tomorrow, I'm still tryin' ta take it easy so I'm mostly free. I know you have work, but in the morin' we could... if you wake up early enough, either stop by the hotel or somewhere else."

"I.." Tugger considered this for a moment, "I guess I could do that."

Mac nodded. "Okay."

"What time and where?" Tugger asked, needing something more solid if he was actually going to secure a chance to intereact with his brother without one or both of them being angry with the other.

"Try about ten thirty at the hotel? I could... give you a ride here then if you needed one."

Tugger nodded, "That sounds good." He picked up the towel he'd left on the bar top, the glasses were probably dry enough by now that they'd just need a quick wipe out. He grinned briefly at his brother though, genuinely looking forward to seeing him again.

Mac offered him an upward quirk of the lips. "I shall look forward to it then." He turned to Griddlebone, rising. "That bein' said, can I talk to you?"

The white queen hesitated briefly, but nodded. "Certainly. Tugger, do you mind sweeping up in here a bit?"

"That'd be my cue to leave then," Tugger's remark was good humoured as he headed for the kitchen again. "See y'Mac."
He closed the door to the back room, turning up the radio. Tugger was still trying to rid his mind of the original image of his brother and Griddlebone, without needing to hear whatever exchange was about to follow.

Mac watched him go, returning to his seat and crossing his arms and leaning back. He watched Griddlebone evenly, waiting for her to react.

Milady's gaze followed Tugger, staying focused on the door until she was sure it was closed. She turned to face Mac, coming around to lean against the front of the bar, crossing ehr arms as well. "So. That was your handiwork."
