"Pinkerton?" Lou's ears perked at that.

Sonya nodded. "A Pinkerton, a Mr. Cooper breezed into my office today. Called me Commissioner McGregor," he added, still bitter about that too. "He's on the tail of a gunman from... Chicago I think it was?"

"Then he's from out of town and doesn't know what the hell you're dealing with." Lou shrugged. "From what I've heard they tend to be pretty insufferable anyhow."

Sonya growled low in his throat, but nodded. "I know, I know. I should have been nicer to him I'm sure. I will try better tomorrow... bright and early tomorrow."

Sonya nodded. "Hopefully. I left early tonight. There is still some paperwork to be done, but it should not keep me up until three in the morning tonight."

Sonya smiled, though it was still not entirely happy. "Sleeping in?" he asked. "I do not think I remember that concept." He leaned back in his chair looking at the other. "How have you been?" he asked, pausing to take another drink. "I would hate to simply talk about my problems.

"I've been good. The band's doing well right now, and everything seems to be on a pretty even keel." He replied.

"Well that's good," Sonya said, his smile starting to approach something that actually looked happy. "At least something in this city is floating along on an even keel."

"The rest'll balance out someday." Lou answered, a smile tugging the corners of his lips.

Sonya's smile finally turned into a real one. "I certainly hope so," he said.

"Everything eventually does." Lou assured him.

"I shall live in hope of that day then," Sonya said, raising his coffee cup in something that looked like a toast to the other. "May it be just around the corner."

Lou returned the gesture. "For your sake I certainly hope so."
