1. For now, you can have a maximum of 4 Canon characters. You may have as many OCs as you like, so long as your total number of characters is not more than 6 total. At admin's discretion and posting history you may be permitted more.
2. Consistency in a social RP is always welcome, so to keep the forum consistent there should be a moderate level of activity amongst your characters. If you do not RP with your canon characters for a month (OCs have 2 unless they have been very active), you will have a warning and a 2 week-long trial period. If you do not RP with them consistently after the warning, then they will be taken away from you and put up for adoption. Anyone who adopts them may change them slightly. OC's will be removed rather than put up for adoption (as they are the property of the person who originally made them.) If a character is in adoption for over 2 weeks, they may be added back to the list of available canons.
3. Characters must be accepted by a staff member before you can begin RPing with them. Advice will be offered if your character is not initially approved, so you may change it to suit before the staff will approve it.
4. In terms of your character when playing, please don’t become the Mary-Sue or the Gary-Stu, who no one wants to play with. No one wants to play with someone who is unrealistically perfect, and who dominates the role play in their favor. If an admin diagnoses your character with Sue/Stuism, take it in your stride as an opportunity to improve your character. In addition to this, other people’s characters are not your responsibility. If you have issues with anyone else’s characters, please contact an admin for assistance.
5. To make sure you have read all the rules, the second part of the code is Dreaming.
6. If you want your character to have a past with another character, or a relationship not listed in the Relationships Section, please ask permission of whoever plays him/her. If the character is not being played, please check with an admin. All relationships (including having children) must be agreed upon by both involved users.
7. If you want your character to die, please ask someone else to kill him/her off for you. But, do not just randomly go and kill off someone's character - you must have permission from the member who plays that character first!
8. If you'd like to mate and/or have kittens with someone, it must be approved! Both RPers must be okay with it.
9. It is not a good idea for a player to play their own relatives or employees. Your admins say this from experience, it is not an effective idea and does not promote active collaborative roleplay.
10. You can only have control over your character. if you make another Character jump off a cliff, or you make them talk, that is controlling other characters. Controlling other characters can deeply offend the player. Doing so will result in a warning. (for more information on Warnings go here: (link)).
11. Please keep your characters and situations in the context of Prohibition or Jazz Age history (that being the 1920’s and 30’s). (Think of gangster films, detective noir films, musicals like Chicago etc.) We thus request you do some research into the era, though we do not ask you to do quite as much as we have. Basic knowledge of the context, the fashion, the music, the technology, and the cultural mores is expected however to function within this setting. It is historical fiction. We have provided some sources and information in the Information area that are a good starting point. Thus, a character wearing fifties clothing, or an immigrant from Russia as mayor would not fit within this setting.
