Name: Kyera Ladeaux

Aliases: Some will say “Kye” for short...

Age: 20

Build: Kyera has a very small build. She is quite short and is often told that she is “nothing but skin and bones.”

Origin: Kye was originally from Russia where her first set of parents found her in an orphanage and took her to the US.

Occupation: Kye has no job and it is not expected for her to ever have one.

Eyes: Bright, sightless-blue of a blind cat.

Hair: Kye typically likes to keep her long hair down, but her mother will often catch her before she walks out the door and wrap it up in some way.

Scars: There is a scar on the back of her head from when she hit it as a kitten and lost her sight.

Fur/Markings: White, mostly. She has patches of blue/gray fur with black stripes on them.

Attire: Typical dresses, stockings, and shoes. Often keeps to flats, and tries to remove her stockings and shoes when she can so she can feel where she's walking. Very basic, “boring” colors. She has asked her mother for bright blues, but it is apparent to everyone but Kye that she has not complied to such requests.

Accessories: Kyera doesn't typically wear accessories—too much to worry about.

WOC: Just her claws and teeth—she avoids confrontations quite well.

Appearance: Kyera is very small-built and skinny. Her white fur is peppered with blue/gray patches containing black stripes. Her eyes are the expected blue of a blind queen—for she is a blind queen. The condition of her hair and dress will often depend on if her mother has caught her before she left or not; she prefers to keep her feet bare and her hair down. Her mother will often catch her and have her put on her shoes and stockings and tie up her hair.

Personality: Kye's pretty calm and timid. She is friendly enough, but she keeps much to herself to avoid confrontation. It is nearly impossible to tell the queen's true feelings no matter what time of day you are conversing with her. She is loyal to a fault, and in love with almost everything. She is the one that will sit back and think about everything before making a conclusion.

Special skills: Kyera is very good with music: violin, bass clarinet, and piano are her favorite instruments.

Weaknesses: Confrontations, literally seeing things (as expected), physically weak.

Fears: Confrontation, being abandoned, losing her hearing, never being independent ...

Likes: Music, reading, friends.

Dislikes: Hatred, loud noises.

History: Kyera has gotten pretty used to being tossed around. Ever since her father pushed her harsh enough to lose her her sight, she has been tossed around between all sorts of households. First, she was at the hospital and learned she would never see again. Then she was taken to the orphanage. Next, the Delorov's brought her to the US, New York City, to be precise. The Delorov's soon discovered that they could not effectively raise a blind queen, so she suddenly found herself on a train to Maine to live with the Sweeney's. They Sweeney's decided they had the same problem. The rest of the families kind of dull in her mind; all she remembers is that each new family had some sort of connection with the old one, so the government didn't often get involved with her. She often heard of institutes for queens like her, but she didn't like the idea of being squashed together with all the others like that in an out-of-the-way building to keep her hidden from society. Finally, a few years ago, Kyera met the Ladeaux's. The couple fell in love with her and they officially adopted her. Kyera excitedly finished her schooling and is now focusing on her music while her parents are focusing on finding her a husband.

Love Interest: None. Kyera is anything but interested in love.

I think this is a good start to what could be an interesting character.

However, I think the biggest problem you're looking at here is that she's going to have a lot of trouble interacting with characters. She has no job so she can't meet cats there, and it feels like she lives in a very closed off world that's going to be a problem with setting up threads.

The other thing is even being blind seems to be a large part of her character, I've tried writing blind characters before and it can be rather difficult. If you think that's not something that's going to be a problem and you can do it, then do it, but I would consider how you're going to be able to pull it off before committing yourself to writing such a character.

I do think this is a good start, but I can very concerned about who she's going to interact with. Do you have any thoughts about that?

Hmm, yeah, you're right. I've been wandering around the boards and am having trouble finding places to jump in already. The jobless blind char will make that even harder. Personally, I've had no problems playing her (what's hard is mute chars D:. But I've done them pretty well, too). But you're right. I was going to place her, like, downtown being all social and such, but yeah. I'll go think of someone else (:.

Alright, good luck! As I said, if you think you can play the character blind go for it. I personally remember getting a little frustrated while I was writing a character like that since it was hard to do things with them (Yeah... mutes. It's fun writing an entire story from the viewpoint of someone who can't talk... I really liked how it turned out but I was like, I just want you to be able to speeeeak)

So, I thought about it, and I kinda like Kye too much to give up on her. I gave her a job as the fiddler in The Chrysalis? (I also made her older) And she's certainly going to go out and be more social than she's been in the past. I'm also thinking that if she isn't working up to yours or my expectations, I can send her to Perkins' School for the Blind to teach and start all over with a seeing, hearing, speaking char.

Uh....ps...so, when I start RPing, and I supposed to join a board, or make board, or whatever??? >.<. I'm always hesitant when starting RPing w/ ppl I barely know >>...

I like this character too much to just ditch it too, I'm just wondering how we can make it work was my thing. Erm... the issue with the fiddler is that position was actually just taken in game and I hadn't updated the list yet... I'm really sorry about that. Also, how does she play music blind? Is it just be ear? But the band leader at the Chysalis tends to be really picky so Meadow prefers to play out people joining the band in game if there's another instrument she might play? Because that would key her into a larger group of people, even if it means two fiddlers in one band. That we would need to talk to Meadow about when she gets home. Because one way we can do this is Lou (the band leader) tends to pick good players up after hearing them play on like street corners and such. So if she learned music by ear and was playing somewhere where he could hear, then we might see about working something out.

As for starting rp-ing... we tend to message a lot about threads. One person will of course start them and you're more than welcome to stick up an open thread if you like but personally I prefer planning on starting threads? Even if it's just a "I think this character and this character should interact, let's go!" We also have a introductions thread down in chat if you want to post an intro there and read some of ours if that would make you feel better about rp-ing with anyone. XD I tend to like to know some stuff about the people I rp with too. XD

. Haha, I shoulda known XP. Well, violins are particularly my fave, but...perhaps Meadow would be cool with a flutist, if not with two fiddlers? Sadly, I can -not- see Kye playing a sax or bass >.<, lol. I'm totally cool with playing out her joining the band. Kye can be out in the park playing. And yes, it's mostly by ear. There may be braille music sheets, but I'm not too sure on that. The great thing about blind people is that their hearing is amazing. Many have perfect pitch, and it doesn't take too long to learn a composition.

Alright, so I'm finally done with the hell that is Black Friday for retail associates....

So, looking over Jazz and talking to Lou, I'm thinking at this point perhaps a Trombone, Bass Clarinet, or perhaps even a Cello. We can continue to work with kinks and things, see if we can find something that will work for both of us, but I think this may be best. ((As to the Bass, I wanted to confirm that it was an acoustic string/upright bass.))
