"We'll do our best," Macavity deadpanned, a little unsure how he felt about taking orders from a kit but... he was a kit. Something protective was roaring in his chest, and he hated using kits as runners in the first place--no matter how loudly they insisted they were not to be treated as kits and capable of taking care of themselves.

Coricopat bit his tongue to keep from saying otherwise, but he finally nodded, "We'll do what we can. If we need you we need you though, alright?"
"A'course," Ricky agreed, though far more subdued than normal.

When he received a negative response from Coricopat as well, Ricky tipped his hat to them and scurried out.
The ADA watched him go, shaking his head, "Damn it to hell."

"If we don't there's a chance they could well find a way to trace it back. It's unlikely, but it's possible. The kit's sharp enough to know what not to say, but if he says nothing my guess is it would just arouse suspicions more."

Mac shook his head, stubbing the cigarette out. "Not tonight," he said. "Check back tomorrow and we'll see. Good luck on findin' somethin' for your boy."

Turning back to his papers, Macavity shuffled them together and placed them back in the proper files, dropping the envelopes into his desk to deal with in the morning. With that he turned back toward the bedroom, slipping into bed beside his wife.
