Sitting at the table nearest to the stage, Mistoffelees scowled down at the papers strewn over the table. The Palace was finally closed so that it was extremely early in the morning but he needed to finish the paperwork.
With another sigh, he rubbed a paw over his eyes.

Slois creaked open the door to the building cautiously before he stepped in. His grey suit jacket and black pants were soaked through and clung to him as he moved out of the doorway to make room for his brother to step through.
Fayst followed his brother closely, equally wet in his black suit jacket and pants. The two had been wandering the city aimlessly for a while, but they weren't exactly used to the weather creeping up on them. It had started raining before they knew it. At first they weren't worried and continued to wander, but as it grew heavier they knew they had to find a way out of the rain.
Slois looked around the broad inside of the building with a curious look in his eye. They had ran to first building they saw with lights on, not really paying attention to much else.
Fayst scowled at his brother and wrapped his arms around his waist as he shivered. "You're getting the floor soaking wet."
Slois looked over his brother and gave a shudder from the cold himself. "You're not any better," He retorted and gestured to the puddle gathering at Fayst's feet.
Fayst rolled his eyes and looked for signs of life. The lights were on... Someone should have been awake regardless of the ungodly hour.

Mistoffelees' ears flattened at the sound of the door opening and he scrambled around for the gun Coricopat had finally convinced him to get--as well as a few targeting practices. He was going to fire the doorman, and anyone else currently on staff for not locking the damn door. And if he walked out of this alive he was personally going to see to it that he checked the door every single night.
Back to the wall, he inched around the room before reaching the doorway leading to the entry hall. "Get out," he said to whoever was in the other room.

In an instant reflex Slois's hands slipped under his shirts to grab the hilts of his knives and Fayst's own hand shot to his hip to grip the revolver there.
Slois flicked and ear as he looked for the source of the voice. "Sorry," He began in a not very apologetic tone.
"The light-," Fayst added.
"-was on," Slois began to wriggle the blades from their sheaths. Even though they were both speaking, their voices were so much alike that both of them knew a person unknown to them would think they were just one cat.
"Thought the place was open," Fayst finished and began to draw the weapon out of it's own sheath, the steel glinting in the light dully.

Mistoffelees peeked around the door, nearly swearing when he saw there were two of them. "It's past three. The only places still open are down by the docks, not uptown." He leaned back against the wall, thinking the next day his staff was getting a clearing for leaving the door unlocked and most of the outside lights on.

Fayst tapped his brother on the shoulder when he saw a flash of fur. When he caught his brother's attention he mouthed 'behind the door frame'.
Slois nodded once to show Fayst that he understood and he crept along the wall to get closer to the door. Once he was halfway there, if the cat happened to glance back through then the cat would only see Fayst.
Fayst watched his brother for a moment before he went back to looking around, putting up a front so the other cat wouldn't know where Slois was, or even was there, maybe.
"Your fault for leaving the light on," He paused for a second as though he was discussing something with his brother. "It was raining outside so we were just looking for a place to dry off.

"I thought all the lights were off," Mistoffelees muttered. "But do you really think walking into a place at three am was a good plan? Clearly you haven't been in Felidae long." Everyone was being fired and he was never telling Coricopat about this if he survived it.

"Seems like a good plan to me," Slois growled as he spun around the corner to tower in front of Mistoffelees, his dual blades now out in each hand. The tabby tried to look as fierce as he could, but the effect was sort of ruined by the fact he was drenched from head to toe. Very literally, he looked like something the cat drug in. Briefly, Slois gave himself a second to access his enemy and identified the weapon in the tux's hand and dove to knock it out of his hand.
The moment his brother made his attack, Fayst lunged himself across the room. His brother wasn't exactly known for being kind in fights, and he didn't want to hurt this person more than necessary. It was best not to make enemies in a place they sought out for refuge. In both hands Fayst clutched his revolver and turned around the corner, his aim instantly going for the stranger's head. It was more of a precaution really, and he didn't have any intention of shooting the fellow.

Revolver gone--not that he would have been able to do much with it anyway--Mistoffelees took a step back and raised his paws. "My staff is so fired as of tomorrow." His tail curled around his leg, the crink protesting slightly but the pain was probably mental as much as anything at that point.

Slois kicked the revolver towards Fayst before he fixed the tom with a evil grin. His tail flickered as he took a menacing step forward.
"Don't you dare," Fayst warned and glared at his brother with venom before stooping down to pick up the abandoned revolver and putting it away in the holster meant for his own revolver. It took only a moment and then the gun in his hand was pointed back at the tom.
Slois looked over his shoulder at Fayst and gave a sigh before tucking his knives back into their sleeves. "Geez, it wasn't like I was going to kill him."
"I've seen you do worse," Fayst nodded his head for his brother to take a step back as he took a step towards the stranger.
With them so up close is was clear they bore the same identical expression of curiousity on the same identical brown tabby faces. Both of them flicked an ear at the same time before Slois shook his head and looked away from the tom with a displeased expression on his face.
Fayst gestured it with the gun in his hand towards the cat, the point retraining on his heart. "What's your name?"

"As aware as I am that there's a gun pointed at me, you are in my place so common courtesy I think asks for your names first," Mistoffelees said, glancing between the two of them. "Lot of a fuss for a place to dry off."

Slois wrapped his arms around himself. "You have no idea," He mumbled bitterly as he tried to rub some warmth into the thin cloth. Other than the obvious state of his suit being wet, it was also worn thin, covered in mud in places, and had holes here and there. It was only too obvious that he had been having a rought time lately.
Fayst rubbed the bridge of his nose tiredly as he lowered the weapon and simply tucked it into his trousers. "It's a force of habit, sorry," He said, in no better condition than his twin. "I'm Fayst Tyme and that," He gestured behind him. "Is my brother, Slois."
"Peachy," Slois mumbled as a shudder wracked him.
Fayst gave his brother a sympathetic look as he suppressed a shudder himself. "I must apologize. He's usually much more civil."

Mistoffelees gave Fayst a long look. "Sure. Excuse me if I don't shake your paw, but I'm Mistoffelees Quaxo."

Fayst sighed and gave an apologetic look to Mistoffelees. "Sorry for the breaking and entering but it's been really rough for us."
"That's an understatment."
Fayst flashed his brother a look. "Don't you have anything pleasant to say at all?"
Slois sighed and almost reluctantly walked up to stand beside his brother. With them next to each other, it was hard to not catch the fact that they weren't just brothers, but twins. Pursing his lips, Slois looked over Mistoffelees and gave him the same apologetic eyes. "Sorry. Thanks for not shooting me?"
Fayst elbowed him in the gut.
"Ouch! I mean sorry, sorry," He mumbled and huddled into his brother. Despite the fact his brother had just hurt him they had a more of a forgive and forget relationship than most people.
Fayst sighed and wrapped an arm around his brother, pulling him close in an awkward, sideways hug. With a weak smile he returned his attention to the tom before them. "We'll leave as soon as the rain stops.

Mistoffelees gave them a long look, not impressed in the least. Sighing, he ran a paw over his eyes. "I was going to go home at some point tonight, actually sleep for once. Really, it was a lovely plan and everything. It's going to be raining for a week at this point, you know that right?"
