Plato glanced around him as he stepped off the loft. He found that the higher up he went the more expensive everything looked. At the penthouse level, there was nothing but the finest to be seen. Even the door to the tom's office looked expensive...
The calico took a glance behind him before moving towards the door and rose a paw to knock on the door.

Having gotten off to a sluggish start--a rarity in his life, damn it--Macavity's head snapped up as he entered the office from the bedroom. "Come in," he yelled, to get the words out before any knock came.

Plato's hand halted inches away from the wooden door as the invitation came. Hesitantly, he lowered it to the doorknob and turned it to open the door slowly. Quietly, the tom shuffled into the room before shutting the door behind him.
"You said to come to you in the morning?" He began as he turned around to face the tom. He flicked an ear as he thought over the tom's name. Plato didn't remember ever catching it.

"Yeah, I did," Mac said, stepping to the side and smoothing his hair back, considering whether to bother gelling it yet or not. "So, you're still here which implies some want of work."

Plato nodded his head in confirmation. "Yes, I need work more than anything right now," He said. "A steady job is too much of an opportunity to pass up. In all honesty, people would have to drag me away from here in order for me to not take you up on your offer."
He flicked an ear and tilted his head slightly as he watched the other's movements before he spoke again. "You never said what job you had in mind, or your name for that matter."

He blinked. "Macavity Hollister," he said, holding out a paw. "As for job, our current openin' is valet. It means dealin' with all sorts of types, caterin' ta their whims, and possibly danger as cats seem ta think stealin' cars is a profitable business, not ta mention you're the first cat most people see at reachin' the hotel."

Plato reached forward hesitantly to grasp the paw in his own. "I'm your man then," He said with an almost expressionless smile that didn't reach his eyes. "I would take any job at this point. If you said jump, I'd say how high." He wasn't even exaggerating. He needed a job and a place to stay badly. Living off the streets was no way to live. "I'm even fine with the danger part. I've had my share of it, so it's fitting that it's followed me into this job."

Mac arched a brow, and nodded. "Well, perhaps we can expand upon that violence bit in time. If you work at the hotel you can be entitled ta a room, though a small sum will come out of your pay for the rent. Reasonable like of course. Also, you can eat at the restaurant on the third floor so long as you're not in your work uniform."

This time Plato fixed Macavity with a genuine smile. "Sounds like heavyside to me," He said and then pursed his lips before he added. "You know, if you really ever do need some violence, I wouldn't complain to lending a hand.

Macavity considered him and finally nodded. "I'll keep that in mind. As it stands, there might be times when you need ta run packages across town. So lon' as that's not an issue, we'll see how things shape up."

"I'm ready to start whenever you need me to," Plato offered. "I don't have much personal business to take care of. Currently, I'm at your disposal."

Macavity nodded. "Well, first you'll need the uniform, and probably some instruction from Smith."

That caused the calico to almost wince. Something about that tom behind the counter rubbed his fur the wrong way. "Lovely," He said in the same tone he had been using before.

That got a laugh out of Macavity. "No one likes Smith, and I don't think he likes anyone else either. But he's damn efficient at his job and ta work here you gotta respect that."

"I'll respect it. Just don't mean I have to like it," He agreed. "What's under his fur anyway? Did someone kill his puppy when he was little or something?" It was kind of hypocracy, Plato knew. He wasn't the most likable cat either, but he had his reasons for being that way. This Martin fellow, on the other hand, just seemed to enjoy being mean.
