One that ends with dinner with you. That voice was getting really out of hand, so Victoria decided to just not speak for a bit.
She led the way down towards the bakery. Hopefully Mrs. Barnum wouldn't fuss at how late she was. She bit her lip as she worried about that.

Alonzo strolled along beside her, quickly being distracted by what was going on along side the street. "So, you work with a lawyer?" he asked, having gotten a good look at the papers.

"My- M- Father died a few y- years ago." She adjusts her hold on the pile of papers and her gaze drops to them. "Mr. Seidensticker, he hired me then. Father was his business partner. Mr. Seidensticker, h- he thought it would be good for me to learn a trade."

Alonzo paused and nodded. "I, I'm sorry for your loss. For a long time it was me and my mom too, though I suppose I had a brood of brothers. She died a few years back now too."

Victoria let the subject drop, and passed the last few steps to the bakery in silence. The interior was brightly lit, and the Barnums could be heard shouting at each other even from the street. "This is- this is it." She said looking up at him.
