The mottled tom rose, glancing from Mac to Griddlebone and back, "Alright. Good evening to the two of you." He picked up his coat, hat, and briefcase and slipped out of the office.
((Exit Coricopat))
Grids looked up at Mac, trying to seek something to say.

"Do you want ta go upstairs?" he asked, shoulders sagging slightly.

She considered for a moment before rising from the chair and moving over to him, "I would. Are you alright, Mac?"

"Not sure," he sighed, motioning for her to precede him. "I feel tired."

She slipped out of the office ahead of him, waiting for him before starting toward the lift, "Perhaps a couple of hours of rest?"

"Probably," he replied, raising a brow at the lift and sighing softly.

She slipped her paw from his as she answered, unable to talk about one tom while in contact with the other, "He was kind to me. He adored me. I'd never had someone look at me like that without, as far as I knew, expecting something in return. He took me in, Mac. He didn't have to, but he did."

"He doesn't see you as a person," Macavity replied. "You were treasure ta him, somethin' ta be taken."

"I was on an ivory pedestal. But I also had nowhere to go. What would I have done, Mac? Gone back to the 'Ribbon? It's not as though I had many options." She shook her head, "I don't know. Maybe I enjoyed being the one to call the shots for so long. I felt like I had some control over my life, though I doubt I did until I walked out his door."

Mac stared at her a moment before moving forward and touching her hair lightly. "I'm sorry. It was just shockin', it felt surreal hearin' the things he was sayin'."

She tilted her head into his touch, one paw coming up to rest on his cheek, "It's alright. I suppose I'd never thought much about it."
