Griz paused. She'd forgotten who she was speaking to for a moment...and it stung a little when it came back. "No, there's nothing else. Thank you for telling me the tyrant is dead."

Anger lashed through her, a combination of shame and hurt; she knew he was right, but the thought of what her husband had done to her still stung. She thought of her husband, then her father, and she saw them in her son. "All toms are tyrants, they just don't all know it yet. I hope you learn it about yourself sooner than later." She hung up the phone with a loud, enraged clack.
She sat in her office and waited for the hot rage to be replaced by the calm, empty feeling that always followed. In the morning, she would probably regret that, but for now, she needed to distract herself. The next round of drinks at the Red Ribbon would be on the house.

For a long moment over at his end Macavity just blinked at the far wall, the click ringing in his ears.
Finally he shrugged and hung the phone up, lighting another cigarette. "We're what we're made," he murmured.
