Mistoffelees shuffled the deck of cards in his hand as he sat cross legged on the street corner, watching the people walking by to see if anyone interesting would show up. He dealt himself three cards, looked at them, and reshuffled them into the deck. He repeated this process a couple times, eyes darting up every once and a while to see if anyone else had appeared in the few seconds he had taken his eyes off from the street.
((He's pretty listless right now. Anyone want to show up?))

Coricopat Zimmerman wandered idly down the street, he had a good half an hour before he was due back at the courthouse. The morning had been productive—he’d managed to get himself assigned to handle the negotiations for that rat in Marcellus’ heists. He’d see to it that the cat knew exactly what would happen if he crossed the Hidden Paw. Last night he’d sent a message to the fellow’s gal, and this afternoon he hoped to actually speak to the tom himself. No cases were looming on the horizon, and the last several had been victories either for the city or for Macavity so the lawyer was content to leave it at that.
His grey eyes scanned the area out of habit. He didn’t carry a gun during the workday and he’d rather not be caught unaware. One eyebrow arched at the sight of the black cat seated at the corner. The mottled tom checked the time on the courthouse clock before changing his direction slightly and strolling toward the small tom.

Misto looked up when he saw a cat come sauntering towards him out of the crowd. He frowned a little, not having met the cat before, and he looked a little scary. He was certainly taller than Misto (like every other Tom he had ever met) and he was dressed like a lawyer.
Misto gave his deck another shuffle, adding in an extra flourish.

Coricopat looked the other tom over, leaning languidly against a nearby lightpost. "Card tricks?"

Misto shrugged, uncomfortable with the other, and gave the deck in his hands another shuffle. "Sure, wanna see some?"

The Assistant DA shrugged. "I have nothing else to do."

Misto gave the deck another and final shuffle. "Alright," he said, fanning it out. "Choose a card."

Coricopat idly drew a card from somewhere in the middle of the fan.

Misto held up the three of hearts and then appeared to shuffle it back into the deck. "Aright," he said, holding up the bottom. "That your card?" he glanced at it and made a face since it wasn't the three of hearts, it was the four of spades. "Right," he said quickly. "That's clearly not. Hold out your hand would you?"

The sharply dressed lawyer arched an eyebrow but decided to humor the other tom, holding out his paw as requested.

((Can I just add here the idea of these two together is just *cracking me up* so very much?))
Misto placed the card that appeared to be from the bottom of the deck (the one he'd just shown) into the other cat's hand, face down. He then flipped another couple cards, and showed the bottom again. "So, in your hand is the card from the bottom right? Alright, now look at the card in your hand."
((It should be his original card and Misto is now holding up the card that should have been in his hand. I really, really, really need to get a book and research card tricks, this seemed like such a brilliant plan.))

Coricopat's eyebrows rose in surprise. The three of hearts rested in his paw. "Well, I'll be damned. An interesting trick." His tone was relatively neutral, but there was a slight hint to indicate he was impressed. The mottled tom offered the card back to the street magician.
((oh, perhaps. You know, I might have one around somewhere... If not most libraries carry them. ))

((I looked up a ton of tricks, and none made sense to me how they worked so I finally went with one I kinda understood... geesh...))
Misto grinned as he took the card back. "So, you look like a lawyer type. Whatcha do?"

"You got it in one. I'm on the DA's payroll. And yourself? Street magic. Anything else?" Cori mused over the use of sleight of hand in certain businesses, but determined it was best to leave that be for the moment.

Misto shrugged and shuffled the deck with extra flair. "Oh, big man then, being on the DA's payroll and all that. As for me... well right now? Just a street magician. Don't have much going on."
