Misto nodded again. "I... do you want me around? I can go for the day if you want to be alone, but, I..." He paused. "I would rather stay, but if you..."

"No." He spoke quickly, his grey eyes almost pleading. "Please stay."

Misto paused, a little surprised and nodded. "Of course," he murmured.

Cori hesitated, but slipped from the kitchen into the living room and sank down onto the couch, he had to figure this out.

Misto watched him, having agreed to stay but unsure of what exactly to do. After a while, the smaller tom slowly entered the living room, glancing around. He picked his book back up, curling up in the chair rather than the couch.

Cori watched him quietly, his ears flickering very slightly at the choice of seating. He tried to concentrate on his book but finally gave up, setting it aside.

Misto had been looking at Cori intently enough to notice the ear flicker, but could hardly figure out what it was for, or what he should do in response to it. He glanced up from the page he had barely read when he noticed Cori set aside his book.

Coricopat glanced in Misto's direction uncertainly, barely able to believe he was going to ask this. "Would...that is...Do you mind..." He paused, trying to gather his thoughts. "Would you mind joining me here?" He half motioned to the couch.

Misto's eyebrows shot up and he tried to force them back down. "A-alright," he said, raising and settling back down on the couch. "Anything else I can do?"

"I..." He shook his head, "No. I don't believe so. I just...I.." He could say this, couldn't he? "I'm sorry about this." Damn it, that wasn't what he'd wanted to say.

Misto shrugged slightly, pulling his legs up underneath him. "It's fine," he said. "I've done more than my share of things like this. And you were more than there for me."

"Still, thank you." Coricopat turned so he was half facing him, the space between them perhaps not as far as he'd thought a moment ago. He reached out but stopped himself, hesitating again.

Misto nodded again. "You're welcome," he said quietly, blinking at him, not really daring to move. He was having a somewhat hard time convincing himself even breathing was a good idea.

Cori finally relented and moved over so he was nearer to Misto again, placing a gentle paw on his cheek. "I mean that."

So much for breathing. Misto barely inclined his head into the touch. "Alright."
