"You have a warrant for the palace, yes? And for the assets?"

"It was an illegal establishment," Sonya said through gritted teeth. "The owner is dead. The deed hasn't been passed on yet. I can certainly get a damn warrant." This is why he hated lawyers... Zimmerman was one of the worse, how did that little tom run across him?
Misto's tail curled around the chair leg, but he didn't interrupt the two.

"Then until you have a warrant you have no right to the building. Or the finances." Coricopat responded easily. He wanted to get into that office before they got rid of all of the papers of use.

Sonya growled. "I can get a warrant if you want. Give me five minutes." It wasn't like he didn't have plenty of reason to suspect the place.

"Hm...I suppose the warrant isn't necessary, but I do expect to be permitted to be there, as not everything in that building can qualify as contraband."

Sonya narrowed his eyes. "Oh, thank you, how gratuitous of you."
Misto glanced between them. He wondered if most of Jones' gang had cleared out or not yet, and what that might mean.

"Well, I would hate to see my client not get what he should," Coricopat replied calmly.

That calmed Sonya down slightly and he nodded. "Right, yes, of course."

Cori considered letting it be at that, but really did enjoy baiting Vlask a bit too much, "Especially since I'd hate to bring a false seizure charge against the department."

Sonya's eyes narrowed farther. "How kind of you," he said slowly. "I'll want to search the place at some point you know."
"Is it closed up now?" Misto asked.
"Yeah," Sonya said, glancing over at the other. "No one's been in it except the police investigating the murder."

"Well, of course you do. There are no objections to that." Especially now that I know you haven't really been in there... Entrance and exit to and from the place was easily doable.

Misto glanced over at Coricopat and then back to Sonya. "So, aside from the Palace, what am I looking at?"
Sonya sighed. "Well, there's some other real estate, and you will probably," he shot Coricopat a dark look, "end up with most, if not all of his fortune."
"When?" Misto asked quietly.
Sonya shrugged.

Coricopat frowned at that, "Oh that's of use. Perhaps a more general timeframe, sir?"

Sonya shrugged again. "This is a strange situation. I'm sure you could claim possession of the mansion today if you wanted--might be best to go and try and reassure the servants there. As for the money being transferred to you, well, the bulk should be a couple days at most. The rest of it as soon as the investigation is closed up."

"There we go. That wasn't so hard. And we'll see about the rest, yes?"
