Bombalurina Piper walked down the dreary steets, noting the thick slush and salt tinging the air. Her bag tapping at her hip, she noted the feel of the heavy camera through the worn brown leather.
What the hell was she doing here? She needed the money, yes, but...
A slight huff funelled through her as she wandered along the dockside, approaching the already darkened pier. Surely, there was more honest work then stalking philandering husbands and photographing them with cash in paw, lady in another.
Scarlet tail fluttering in her wake, the shapely queen spotted the target's white car hidden under an ugly green shipping tarp, her green eyes lighting on its position by the dockside. Removing her camera, she snapped a shot of it for later, ebony tipped ears a flutter.
She sniffed slightly as a chill rang through her; foghorn sounding throughout the harbour loudly as night fell deeply upon Felidae. Cat, she hoped she would be done soon.

Jerrie, having left The Fishbone, was dawdling. He was willing to admit it too. He would rather do anything than go check in with that bloody P.I. to see what needed to be done. He had his latest carving out, turning it over in his paws as he sought the next place to work on it as he walked. He glanced in the direction of an odd tarp-covered object. It was near enough to a known bordello that he was inclined to suppose it was some well-paying fella from uptown. Figures.
He shook his head as he turned his attention back to the wood in paw, nearly running right into the red queen, he hadn't seen. "Oh! Sorry, ma'am." He slipped the carving back in his pocket his green-hazel eyes apologetic as he bit his lip sheepishly. "Wasn't watchin' where I was goin'."
((It's actually closer to noon I think...not sure though))

((Ahhh, bum. My mind has a mind of its own.))
Bombalurina jumped as the tom ran into her, startling her out of her wits. Lowering the lense of her camera, the scarlet queen quickly scoped the tom with a wary eye (You never knew what kind of people hung around the docks of course), but after decideding her posed her no danger, she visibly relaxed.
"That's fine." She smoothed in her naturally husky tone, screwing the cap back over her boss' camera.

Jerrie looked her over. She was rather shapely, but dressed in what looked like a business suit--better suited to downtown than all the way here at the dockside. "What brings a lady like you down 'ere by 'erself? Ain't much worth photographin'." He nodded to the camera.

Bombalurina's ears fluttered elegantly at his kindness, her green eyes searching his hazel ones perceptively. "I'm here for work." She held the camera up a little more between them, gesturing to it shyly.

"Couldn't y' boss find someone else?" He realized how that could sound, but really it wasn't a good idea to send a gal looking like her down to the docks alone.

Bombalurina's shy expression suddenly fell into a dark abyss, her green eyes stormy and brow set stonily.
"I couldn't see why he didn't do it himself." She responded bitterly, shaking her head gently. "I hate him."

Jerrie chuckled dryly. "Sounds like one of my bosses. Who is he, mebbe I know 'im." The torbie was mostly joking, after all there were numerous cats that were disliked by their employees.

Bombalurina raised a brows lightly at his comment, fishing her employer's business card from her pocket, and gently offering it to him.
"I can assure you, mine's worse." A smile twitched at the corner of her lip, the rusty coloured typing on the cheap, discolourred paper card enough to say this guy wasn't all that swish.

Jerrie glanced at the card and then checked it again, laughing in somehting akin to disbelief. "No, I c'n safely say they're about the same."

The scarlet queen fluttered her tail behind herself, some semblance of annoyance forming at his seemingly mocking laugh. "Hey, I just need the money alright - trust me, I wouldn't work his crummy assignments if I didn't need to eat!" Embarrassment flushed over her quickly.

The torbie tom held up a placating paw. "That ain't what I meant." A bit of mirth still danced in his green-hazel eyes. "I work for this fella too. Was actually just headed t' see if'n he needed me today." He grimaced. "Absolute bastard that he is he'll probably find somethin'."

The scarlet queen suddenly perked slightly, her green eyes lighting in disbelief, but narrowing quickly. "I haven't seen you before..." The queen began suspiciously.

Jerrie shook his head. "I don't doubt that. He doesn't call me in much anymore, but when he does it's usually things that don't involve me stickin' round his office, thank Bast."

Swishing some of her long, deepr red hair from her face (and feeling somewhat stupid) she gave him a light smile. "Lucky you..."
