Okay, now that you've explained, makes sense ((I will get around to reading season 1. Promise))
Misto is an adorable woobie. And yay for overprotective!Tugger, you take good care of your little buddy :D
Oh, good to it working out ((no, no I'm not shipping that pairing hard in Buffy'verse. Whatever gave you that idea. Besides, Cori's much better then Oz and hopefully we won't get a Tara moment ::wince:: because while cool, oh, that would break my heart for Misto.))

I do encourage reading that first one soon, it does fill in some things that we've been building in this one.
I dunno, I like Oz personally, frankly up until the episode where he leaves. He's a sweetheart and what was needed to draw Willow out of her shell. He got the short end of the stick in several instances.

Well, the thing with season one is yes, we follow roughly the actual show, but there's quite a few things we built off as it goes along.
Well, first off, I love Oz, I've always loved Oz and I'll never forgive the show for sending him off ((Sorry Tara, but her character was never quite as interesting to me)). Besides which, I can't quite bring myself to give Misto only one boyfriend in all time and only one. It just seems... strange to have him hung up on Cori since the age of 16. He needs a little variety in his life and honestly Pounce is really, really good for him as much as Oz was good for Willow. ((I was talking to my roomy about the problems of a love triangle... I want everyone to be happy, damnit! And about Pounce vs Cori, and honestly, Pounce would be healthier for Misto in just about every verse. Every one. And yet so far Misto's been attached by the hip to Cori so...))

Oh, don't get me wrong - I liked Oz. Just his send off pissed me off so it's terribly jaded me in terms of his character. ((The whole Tara/Willow thing just annoyed me, seriously. The whole evil!Willow thing just annoyed me to be honest))

But Oz himself is a fascinating/adorable/funny character. Season Four is pretty a season of flat out character abuse so it shouldn't detract from him in seasons 2 and 3.
The issue with Tara for me was it was heavy handed. At least, part of the issue. It was also forced to make Willow "gay" since she had obvious, loving, male relationships. Bi I would buy, not gay. The problem with having her then go evil was honestly that it didn't make sense. The thing Wheadon said about Tara and Willow was it allowed Willow to draw someone out like Oz drew her out. But then when she went evil he said it was dealing with her insecurities that had always been present. Okay, actually I buy that. But to be able to draw Tara out like she did, Willow could not have been that insecure at that point. There was a logic flaw in that that bothered me.

Yeah, it was that whole Tara/Willow thing that bothered the hell out of me. I think I stopped watching around S3 - did watch a bit of Angel when that aired but I couldn't get into it. (Not like some of the girls I went to college with. I think they pulled an all nighter Buffy/Angel marathon)
Now, on to the fun :D Lovely new chapter of Victorian!Verse :D Loved Misto/Cori's interaction. (I think you're one of my favorite Misto/Cori writers, Delphicoracle-Cat is my other. Delphi also wrote my favorite Munkus/Misto slash "The Terror of the Junkyard" - set slightly before the Jellicle ball where Munkus and Misto are crafting costumes for the Growltiger number)
Is it wrong of me to hope that Cori does something down right evil to Bustopher at this point? Because at this point, I'm really hating that tom. ((Of course, it doesn't help that when Bustopher threw the bottle, I immediately thought "Oh, God, it's going to hit Misto's back just like Old D's bottle hit Tugger's!"))
And yay for Vicki to point out to Misto's mother that she should actually talk to her son now that he's home. Hoping that Sera actually does talk to her son at some point. He needs to know his mother does care for him since she's been distant thus far.
Still hoping that Mac comes to Vicki's rescue (I blame my love for that pairing on the Trilogy. I sniffled when Mac left her at the end of Episode 1.)

See, I appreciate Willow and Tara for being one of the first lesbian mainstream pairings on TV. I just don't think they did it terribly well was the problem. And they had to basically use bad puns to show they were in a relationship since the TV network kinda frowned on them kissing and stuff on screen. It set it up too often as Willow disliking men, rather than loving women which bothers me. ((See, I enjoy parts of Angel too. Dad and I tend to marathon the shows together... Though when we were watching season 7 it was mom having us watch 4/5 episodes a night)). Yeah, the first three seasons are the best. Season 4 takes this random massive turn downward and it gets better but never quite recovers from that.
There are other Cori/Misto writers? Sweet. I've never actually seen the pairing anywhere else. It came out entirely out of their interactions on Felidae and then never went away again. I figured someone somewhere had done it before but I hadn't seen it. XD
... Oh, something will happen to Jones eventually--it tends to and he needs to die for this story to work sooooo... it'll happen. Eventually. ((Ah yeah. No, he just throws things at Misto's head, not his back. Last time it was a paperweight. >.> Misto's fast at least.))
Misto and his mom are pretty much a mess in this verse. Actually, the two times his mom shows up in the story they have massive issues. In this one, them not talking is as much Mistoffelees as her. He's really, really bitter this verse for a couple different things. A lot of that's directed at his mom.
((Hehe, well, yes. XD And I might have said before they showed up in Star Verse after we started shipping them in this one? There's a couple other stories that will focus on them eventually as well)). We're trying to work that out. It's really hard to get Mac and Vic interacting in the Victorian era though.

there are - but I think it's like a small handful (Tugger is more often slashed with Misto. Hell, trying to find a decent Mac/Misto fic is nigh impossible. I do like it if the author explores it on a tasteful angle, and I also like reading if it's a Mac/Misto family fic. After all, they are the only magical cats seen thus far)
Oh, thank God - the entire passage where Jones and Misto went at it, I kept hoping he'd have a heart attack in the midst of it so Misto could have a normal life in that house. ((At least it's the head. I just had visions of it hitting his back, him running to Cori and Cori getting down right pissed at Jones for it and doing something he probably shouldn't at this point.))
I'm hoping at least for some sort of reconcilliation at some point. Maybe they could bond over how much of an asshole Jones is to the both of them.
Well, he could always pay a call on her to see how she fared after their first meeting. It wasn't uncommon to have social calls during that time. ((Professor Thomas Hill has a lovely book out that deals with the ettiquette of love and marriage. It's called the Essential Ettiquette of Victorian Manners. It has two sections, one on day to day and the second on love and marriage. I believe, if going by the second section, one of the suggestions was to marry someone that was an opposite of you - ie someone with light hair was to marry someone with dark hair, someone who was emotionally cool should marry someone who was emotionally hot. If you want, I can transcribe passages and send them to you via email))
((I plan on reviewing Buffy'verse later when I'm not battling a mild headache and exhaustion. Any spelling errors are because of that))
Very much loving the Tugger/Tumble interactions in BatB!verse - my heart melted at the brushing the hair off the forehead scene. So cute and Tugger was absolutely adorable right then. The dining scene was adorable too. ((I did get a good chuckle out of Misto and Cori's reaction to Jenny's "Soup!" bit. I just hope when I play Jenny I can match the bar you two set since the way you write her just seems all natural Jenny))
And uh oh, I think Cori's in the proverbial dog house with Misto with that promise line. ((Hee! One of my favorite lines in the movie)) Cori's going to have to do something impressive to make it up to Misto. ((Not that they're together.. yet. But not the best way to start it off, Cori.))
And the learning to read scene - squee! I think I'm in heaven. I loved that scene <3 Tugger was adorable in confessing the truth to Tumble. And Tumble knew exactly how to get Tugger to learn to read and without making an issue out of it.
And jealous Cori is jealous. At some point, he has to clue in to his feelings, right? Thankfully, Jenny gave Misto a bit to think about - even if he turned around and dropped the truth on her. Maybe Vicki should tell Cori the truth and tell him to get his act together XD
Am loving the Tugger/Tumble moment during the reading scene. ((I think I found my new favorite Tugger ship))

(Ah yeah. See, Tugger and Misto is one that if it's done right I think it really works. Don't get me started on Mac/Misto. Just... Meadow actually got an annoyed text one day from me ranting about the lack of fics for them that weren't father/son or rape fics... or both. I'm never sure what I think about the family relationship between them. If done right, it can really work, but I've never been sure what to think about blood-line magics, and in some ways their magic is so different, if Macavity could be said to have magic which I think it /could/ be argued he doesn't. At any rate, I have 5 pages scribbled in my class notebook for the start of a fic dealing with them. We'll see if it progresses beyond that scene or not.)
Cori is actually rarely physically violent. Felidae, Star Verse, and BuffyVerse are major exceptions but usually he almost never seems to use violence as recourse. In one verse I just remember us going, you have /got/ to do this, and he was just like, really? I'd rather not. Besides, Misto have a normal life? >.> We can hope.
The issue with social calls being that Victoria and Mac are of such different social classes. Not only is Mac a professional, but his father was a navy man and not very rich to begin with. If they were in the country it would in some ways be easier but social calls between them might be questionable... especially if/when Jones heard about it. We'll see.
((Is the later review going to be a good thing or a bad thing? XD))
Tugger is never sure how to feel about being adorable. XD But he really can be once he relaxes. ((Heh, thank you. I enjoy Jenny. Especially in Buffyverse when she gets to be Joyce. And yes, they were really confused by the soup. Someone should point them toward the definition of a woobie...))
Cori is going to get away with that line for now. They're so far in trouble with eachother it's not even worth mentioning. It's the /next/ line he gets the beginning of the next chapter that he has to grovel about.
I love the reading scenes. I mean, we're working off the idea that Tugger was 11 when this happened, and I recall at 11 I though books were the most evil thing ever. I grew out of that eventually. XD Majorly grew out of that. But after the transformation he didn't want anything to remind him of what he lost so he just let that skill lapse and no one was going to push him at that point. ((You know, thinking about this, I almost want to deal with some deleted scenes or something right after the transformation. I mean, at this point they've had ten years to get used to it but back then...))
Jealous Cori is always jealous. Usually he's clued into his feelings before he gets jealous but on occasion he realizes he's jealous /before/ cluing in. Which is sorta funny and sorta face-palming. And don't worry, Vic and Jenny are not only on to these two, but just about ready to start taking action.
I really enjoy Tugger/Tumble. I remember in Victorian trying to think of what to do with Tugger, and making an off-hand comment about how Tugger and Tumble interacted during the film version of Tugger's song... and then I was yelled at by Meadow for 15 minutes straight. Then we started writing the pairing. They're going to be showing up in Victorian, we have at least another movie adaptation with them, and they /completely/ took over Jellicle verse, which we still need to massively rewrite before it starts showing up. But their personalities fit well together, they really do, and they can be so adorable. The one time I know Tugger shows up and doesn't end up with Tumble is Buffyverse at this point.

((If you watch Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, I believe the present given to Adam right before the Enchantress shows up and blows things all to hell was a storybook, which gets revisited during Adam's stint as the Beast where Belle had planned on giving him a storybook as his Christmas present that year. Midquels make my head hurt when it comes to crafting a timeframe. Apparently, he got cursed on Christmas. Worst present ever.)) And w00t - I can't wait to see Jenny and Vic start to do something with those two lovebirds. Because they're flailing on their own. Face-palming, yeah, I felt that way when Cori made that jealous comment and it was clear that Misto was upset with it and he didn't clue in as to why Misto was upset. ((Oh, God, you read that fic too where Mac's his father and he rapes Misto? I did a full body cringe reading that one. Although, I did find "The Hidden Paw's Revenge" as a pretty good fic that doesn't have romance or a father/son angle to it. Mac kidnaps Misto to have him use his magic to summon Old D so he could talk to Old D. www.fanfiction.net/s/5691687/1/The_Hidden_Paws_Revenge It's bit of a humor fic so do prepare to giggle. Especially with Mac's snarky response to seeing Misto's glitter)) This is true re the social calls. I'll see what that ettiquette book has to say (It covers everything. Visiting, balls, social calls, how to greet people on the street, love letters - which are down right hysterical when viewed with a modern eye, for example one has a woman turning down a suitor because he used tobacco.) Misto and Cori with a normal life? I give that two minutes before something happens and we're in crazy-town. (My muses are currently twitchy because everything's normal in my fics right now but they've seen some of my other fics and they've noticed that I tend to do interesting things to male leads. >.> I turned one into a nutcracker because it was the holiday season when I started to work on that fic, and in a different fic, the same male lead ended up as a werewolf, because I like werewolves more then vampires.) Tugger is so bi the way in the filmverse, that I can see him and Tumble in that 'verse. And squee, totally excited for some Tugger/Tumble in Victorian. (Which reminds me that I really need to finish working on BatB!Tumble tomorrow before I start working anything Victorian. No, no I don't have the attention span of a hamster upon spotting a shiny. Not at all.. >.> Although, I am noticing a trend in my sketchbook - Cats and ThunderCats are taking it over (or Cats in ThunderCats as I start to doodle Misto in ThunderCats clothing) for the most part) And Jellicle verse sounds interesting - I'm going to assume that's the canonical universe (ie film/musical!verse)? ((the Buffy'verse will most likely be a good one - I just didn't want to read it while I was battling a minor headache and not enjoy it.))

((... I remember watching that one as a kid. Haven't had a chance to revisit it in a long time.))
Yeah, those two just tend to be a mess. And Vic and Jenny are sick of it. When they band together, it's frightening.
((You know, I think I read that one. Still, while it's good I think the relationship between the two of them could be so fascinating and it's just about never explored. So hey, I'll write my own. >.> The joy of fandom right?))
Yeah. We'll get them interacting but it's going to be a bit of a pain for a while. At least enough to actually fall in love rather than crushing at first sight things.
Actually... they almost pull it off a couple of times. It goes to hell but sometimes they almost manage it.
I'm fairly sure the actor from the film was gay... but yeah, there's a couple shots with Tumble during that song that make it shippable. There have been other ships built off less in this fandom, I can so claim shipper proof. >.> ((Hey, I'm good with all and any fanart here. XD Would love to see some)).
Jellicle verse is set in cannon yeah. It's like the only story that is. It got out of hand though, and we lost track of some really key characters while writing it so we need to do massive revisions/rewriting to it. It's a story that the focus really needs to remain on Quaxo/The Mistoffelees, and Tugger took the damn thing over. XD So we gotta balance it better. It's the other story where Misto's parents show up as characters too.
((heh, alright. Hope you enjoy it then and that the headache is/gets better.))

((The headache's not as bad as it was earlier - the nap I took this afternoon helped a lot. As for the Enchanted Christmas, believe it or not, it's on Youtube. I watched bits and pieces of it just to get a taste of it since I like Beauty and the Beast. I have yet to figure out how the hell the "Sing me a story with Belle" fits into canon, since I believe Gaston's alive and it's in some weird time bubble since Belle owns a bookshop/music store. wut?)) Tugger is the kind of character that would take over a story if one isn't careful. Thankfully, I only just started to write for Tugger so he hasn't taken over the fic yet. I'm hoping to rein him in before he goes all "mine, mine" [/seagull riff]. And I'd love to see how you explore his parents - it'd be interesting to see if he got his magic from one or the other. ((I think the weirdest was having his mother/father be Bomba/Mac in a music video on YouTube. Logic went completely out of the window in that video)) And excellent call on Rum Tum Tugger's film actor being gay... Because he is. :D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Partridge_(actor)#Personal_life ((I have an artbook that shows how to draw couples and I saw a few poses that would be perfect for the cast. I just need to settle down and figure out which couple gets which pose. The book covers straight and both sides of the fence for unconventional. I think there was a nice snuggle pose that would work for BatB!Tugger/Tumble - I just need to figure out Tugger first XD))

((Time bubble of joy?))
Tugger really did take over this story, and it was a wee bit of an issue. But as I said, we're working on it.
I tend not to like magic that comes from bloodlines, and the way the magic was set up in this particular story he really couldn't have gotten it from his parents. I think Jellicle magic was based off the moon phases that story. ((I read a good fic where they were his parents... "The Red Queen."))
((Ooooh, I sorta wanna see this couples artbook. Is there a link like off amazon? And cuddle poses are always nice. Could always do it with human!Tugger for that story too, due to the way it runs. We'll see I suppose.))

I know I'm eager to read that story when it gets posted - you two are one of the reasons I constantly go to FF.net to read Cats fic. ((I haven't read that story - is "The Red Queen" on FF.net?))
And understandable on that point. I think the weirdest I've seen bloodline wise was Old D siring Munkustrap, the Rum Tum Tugger, Macavity, *and* Mistoffelees. My mind goes "bwha?" with the last one. ((One of the fics that had that family tree had the bloodline being cursed and the four sons representing the Four Horsemen. It was rather.. um.. dark is a nice word for it.))

nitpick at the moment, you call Mac Angel again: And a later nitpick here with Cori's name: One too many co's
but all in all, a lovely chapter :D ((Now I find myself waiting for Saturday in Buffy'verse. I want to see that fight!))
