Yeah, when he shows up it's universally bad. But, I realized that Plato and Martin tend to play the same roles in our stories... it's just Martin is effective whereas Plato /never/ is.
You mean there are people who only read one book at one time? >.> I have a bookmark in 5-6 books at any given moment.

I know my parents try to do one book at a time but I'm like a hamster after it's seen something down right shiny. ((horrible analogy, but you get my meaning)) I'm bouncing between "Opera in History", the history of Northern Ireland, a book on medieval feasts/festivals, and I think I'm in the process of re-reading "Beast" (which is the story of Beauty and the Beast, from the Beast's point of view. The beast in this version is turned into a lion), and I've been glancing at various chapters of Snow (part of the "Once Upon a time" series, which re-imagines the classic fairytales. Instead of dwarves, we have genetically altered humans. The evil queen is bit of a mad scientist - a nice twist.)
You know, I'd be down right afraid if Plato could pull off what Martin does. ((Oh, God, terrifying thought of Plato showing up as Martin's son. Gah. I think the entire cast would be needing therapy, well, with the exception of Martin and Plato.))

Double post, I know, but just finished reading No Beauty Could Move Me
I will confess that I rushed past the whole Tiger/Tumble thing merely so I could read the Tugger/Tumble (personally, I usually would zip past most of Gaston's parts and go straight to the more interesting bits, like Belle's meeting the Beast)
And <3 You actually gave him a name over then "Beast" - It's annoying to hunt down the supplemental material (ie: A computer game, of all things) to find out that the Beast was called "Adam" before he became a beast. ((Personally, I would have gone with "Vincent" - it sounds a little more regal then "Adam", and a nice tip of the hat to the tv series with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton))
And oh, dear, I feel sorry for the staff, I really do. An utter chill ran down my spine when Misto and Corico started to talk about the rest of the staff. I know it was touched on briefly in both movie and musical (more the musical then the movie) but still in all ::shudders:: I think that'll be the source of unease for a while.
((Is it safe to assume that Michelle has become a mirror? That's what I was getting by the comments, but doesn't hurt to clarify.))

I love "Beast" that was one of my favorite adaptations that I read for a project in my sophomore year of college. Have you read "Beastly"?
Thank you again for the review!
I can understand skimming this scene with Tiger/Tumble, but I do encourage reading the ones with Genghis and Tiger...well, at least the Masion De Lunes scene. *grins* It was kind of fun writing what equates to a toothless version of my normal Genghis muse for this one.
I completely agree about the "Adam" vs. "Vincent" thing. I've heard people say that "Vincent" shouldn't be used since it's not the official name. My person fanfiction tends to use Vincent anyhow. One reason being it sounds more regal, two being it's a bit more French, and three being I really can't name characters Adam with a straight face after the terror that was a kid I babysat.
As to the transformation being a source of unease...that will increase shortly. We're using the size from the film but many of the attributes from the stage production--meaning they still aren't /fully/ transformed. At least the ones who can still move and talk.
Michelle became a Vanity "Little drawers, a mirror, the works" though we didn't specify. We went with the conversation about the other servants from the musical and branched out. (It helped we were able to find the Libretto online since only one of us had a hard copy.))

I've read of Beastly - I haven't read it persay.
And I am eager for the Masion de Lunes scene (even if it creeped me out when I watched it) If you didn't think Gaston was evil before, that's when you really discovered it.
For me, Adam makes me think of He-Man (since I watched far too much He-Man and the Masters of the Universe as a child. That and She-Ra. I had her on my lunchbox when I was in elementary school) and that's just /no/. (It gets worse when you see Filmation's "sequel" to Snow White and see Snow falling in love with a palatte swap of Orko.)
Ah, a vanity - I can see that now. Especially with the play on words.
And oh, dear, I'm already shuddering at the thought of the transformation getting worse and the chapter isn't out yet. I'm going to assume it's not just Misto/Corico/Jenny/Pounce/Victoria that are going to have their transformation enhanced, but Tugger as well? ((I think the artist for the Beast said that was what was slowly happening to him as well. I need to re-read that section in the book I have, on the making of the movie))

It's more a specific character who has theirs advanced. Since it appears all the servants advance at different rates.

Martin would /hate/ Plato if he was his kid, because Plato would be so ineffective. XD See, usually in AUs we set Plato against Misto and Vic, but in one ((That's still in planning stages)) we set Martin directly on Misto and it's terrifying how much of a better job he does than any Plato has managed.
As for BatB: ... we really didn't deal with Beast continuing his transformation, though we do set it up that over the ten years he's the only one aging during this time because all the other servants aren't organic anymore ((Because otherwise explaining Chip is impossible, since he would be closer to 15)).
I feel like when it comes to romance, it's odd not to ask the name of your romantic lead, so we worked in Tumble doing that. See, I associate "Vincent" with... well, a couple different vampires so that name tends to make me go "huh?" Personally I'm good with calling him the Beast in film and fandom can do as they will. XD
Yeah, Growltiger sticks /mostly/ to the script until later there. It doesn't help that Martin shows up for Maison d'... that french word. XD So I can't spell it but I assume you know which one I mean.
A couple of the servants noticed obvious transformations as this progresses, and there are many panic attacks to be found.

Well, on the bright side, you have Chip and not Dopey the music box to play with. Seriously. The book I'm reading mentioned that Belle was supposed to have a music box that acted in the role of what is now Chip (one of the artists said they felt stupid when they had to sell the animation because the dialogue was all "Chimey, chimey, ding") and since Chip had been a token character, they seized on him and the rest is history.
Also, in my reading - a different book, this one covered the musical, I think I recall that Cogsworth was one that had an obvious panic attack (when the key to wind up a clock appeared on his back). I can only imagine how Corico would take that.
Maison des Lunes (I ran downstairs to check the CD I own of the Broadway show) And oh, /dear/ I already feel sorry for Skimble and Tumble. That whole segment creeps me out ((and it doesn't help that the owner of the Maison later plays Frollo and we all know how "nice" Frollo is))

... Huh. Dopey the music box does not sound nearly so interesting. >.>
Yeah, Cori's the one who ends up with the wind up key. Though, since it's Cori he has one of his "I'm not panicking attacks" whereas Misto just flat out starts panicking on his behalf. ((See, the thing with Meadow's Cori is... he doesn't panic. Or so he claims. Misto and Mac both end up calling bullshit on this but he still maintains he doesn't panic. Except in one particular story where he does end up flat out panicking. It would be hilarious if it wasn't such a painful scene. He starts going off and is just like "Wait a second, is this what panicking feels like?" and Mac's just, "Uh-huh. Actually, I think you've gone /beyond/ normal panicking."))
Oh god, yeah, it is Frollo. I rewatched it this week with some friends and she's like, you know that's Frollo yes? And it is. ... The creepy thing is remember a little ways up when I mentioned Martin shows up in a story rather than Plato and does so effectively? Yeah, that character he picked up is actually based off Frollo. >.> It's rather terrifying.

The sad thing is, Frollo was decent in the book as compared to the movie. I have no idea why he became that evil ((Of course, Hugo's ending was far depressing so... a weak "yay" for Disney))
Well, Dopey was the name I gave it since it was mute save for the "chimey ding" bit. Thankfully it was scrapped.
Oh, poor Cori. My heart is going to break in that moment for him. I know it will.

Well, he always had issues in the book, but yeah, it wasn't quite to the same degree as freaking "HELLFIRE" but it was there. Though, I haven't read the book since 8th grade so it's been a while. XD
Oh dear, yeah, not an interesting character if they can't talk...
Yeah, poor Cori. Despite everything, it's really easy to break Cori as a character. I mean, Mac on Felidae showed up broken, but Cori's like snapping a plate in half and gluing him back together before sticking him back up on the shelf. Mac breaks and he's just about impossible to break. Misto breaks like a crystal goblet thrown on cement though ((I am under strict orders not to break him ever again... except I think I get to in Buffyverse but other than that I am never allowed to break him again.))

Oh, please don't break Misto. I bawled when Cori threw him out of the house here. I felt so horrid for him.
The art concept was pretty at least for the music box. I'll see if I can get my scanner to cooperate with me and see if I can scan the images. ((I only just got my computer to behave again. DeviantArt gave me such a lovely virus [/sarcasm]))
I think I read Hunchback in high school. ((Although, I'm not surprised that I'm playing with humanoid cats. One of the books I own deals with humanoid cats - Dark Nadir. Of course, my mother bought me it and gave me that volume, not knowing it was the fifth volume of the series))

Well, I gotta break him for Buffyverse since it's the /only/ storyline I think we're actually massively keeping from season 6. But yeah, in that particular story where I broke him it was bad. On so many levels. I actually started tearing up while trying to write some of the scenes. 300 pages later he still hasn't fully recovered, but he's on the path to doing so finally. >.>
Ooooh, pretty art is always approved of, though viruses very much are not. >.>
Heh, yeah I read it because our school had started this system where you read books and took these really stupid tests about them for points, and Hunchback knocked out all my points for like the semester.

I'm assuming knocked them out in a good way. I read Hunchback for pleasure, to be honest. The literature in my high school left a lot to be desired (instead of reading Hamlet ((I tried to convince my lit teacher to do MacBeth since that was more interesting. Didn't work)), we watched Mel Gibson's version. I had my nose in the text book and refused to watch)
It wouldn't be bad but that's where one of the webcomics I read is (that and I host my ThunderCats art on DA. Although, I may switch it to Photobucket since that's safer. Granted, there'd be no comments, but on the plus side, no viruses)
And yay for recoveries. So far, the worst I've broken Misto in one of my fics is he got captured by Macavity ((I need to figure out why Mac captured him. He's not cooperating at the moment))
